V8 Vantage tailgate release problem

I seemed to have developed a problem opening the tailgate. The key fob when pressed twice opens the tailgate. However the button on the tailgate does not work and neither does the internal release switch by the gear stick. I can only find reference to one fuse so don't think it can be that and I would have thought if it was a solonoid failure then it wouldn't open at all. And if the button had failed then why will it not open from the switch by the gear stick?

Confused! Any ideas?

The little switch on the outside of the boot doesn't work on mine, I'm looking to get it fixed. The inside one and the keys do work for me. Did some research on here and I beleive the part number is 6G33-32A50-AA and the cost is about £150.

The switch gets dirt ingress over the years which fouls the contact.

You could try some 'Rust Flash' from Ambersil. This is really good at cleaning and freeing such contacts.
