Just got my renewal through. It's bothering me and I know I'm going to have to ring them to confirm.
Nothings changed, just another year of no incident motoring and its dropped from £550 to £185....
Had 8yrs NCD, now 9. 44yr old. Too good to be true?

Not sure who you are with but I am coming up with quotes in that region - perhaps nearer £225 with protected no claims and legal cover. I think you'll find we love these cars so much that we don't crash them very often........... touch wood!

I've just insured my V12V for 550. Doesn't sound that great does it but it is when you consider I've not got any no claims due to being abroad for years. I was amazed.

Interestingly the price went up by 100 quid when I told them it was a V12 Vantage not a V12 Vanquish - same insured value. For some reason the system picked my reg up as being a Vanquish instead of a Vantage.

Mine is due on the same car and that price is very good. Mine went from £450 to £900 when I moved from V8 Vantage to V12 and it was the excess that increased a lot from £500 to £2k. Is that with a broker or through AMOC?

I paid £330 last year I think, and you're *much* older than me wink Apparently we look after our cars and don't bury them in ditches too often. Happy days!

Renewed my policy with Aviva this year - £277 incl NCB protection. I don't believe in Admiral so didn't even get a quote from them but £277 sounded pretty good to me, even though the excess is very high at £800.

Jack and Cayman,

It's exactly 565 GBP for the year, just checked the exact price. It is with Elephant with a 500 GBP excess. However, my postcode will affect the quote significantly I think. I'm right up the far North of Scotland, any further North and your feet will be wet. I'm guessing this is classed as a low risk area and probably has an effect.

Elephant is part of the Admiral Group. They will not let you get your car repaired at an Aston authorised / specialist bodyshop or AM Works. You have to use whichever is the cheapest Admiral / Elephant recommend. I moved my insurance this year due to their change in policy.

Thanks for reminding me of my age Kris, what a pal!!

I don't mind paying insurance, we never like it to be too expensive but too cheap is just as much of a worry. I didnt get chance to ring them today to confirm, first week back and minions to organise on our plan for world domination and all that.
Maybe they (Privilege) don't mind a Liverpool postcode anymore... smile

A really interesting point. I was looking through my documents (Admiral) and there is a £200 pound excess they MAY apply if you use a non-approved repairer. To me this suggests you can go elsewhere but they will put a small premium on it. I haven't gone through the full 'call them and ask' but this seems pretty clear to me. Anyway, my tuppence worth.

You can use who you want with Admiral. The repair quote just needs to be approved by their assessor. You will however lose your courtesy car if you don't use one of their recommended repairers.

Not according to their call centre agent. Phoned and queryied it. They changed the policy this year. I know they used to let you an AM approved place, as I've claimed, hence querying it this year.

I have just had my Aston repaired at Works Services through Admiral without a quibble (they even paid to have the ventureshield type film replaced even though it was non factory fitted and hadn't been notified to them). However if you use your own choice of garage you wont get a courtesy car supplied by Admiral. This is a multi-car policy which was renewed in September 2014.

Long time no see how are you and the wife?

Good to see Admiral being consistent with their information! Moved to Aviva this year.

What repairs did you have done?

To avoid any possible confusion with Admiral allowing AM to repair your car, get them to confirm it in writing. If they refuse, then you know where you stand.

A couple of years ago I was thinking about including the Aston on our multi car policy. I asked whether I could use an Aston approved repairer to which verbally they agreed but would not put that in writing so I stayed with my current insurer, Lockton, who I know are more expensive but if the worst should ever happen it will be repaired where I want it to be.
