Guess the number for 2015: 1,017

Sadly I don't expect to be one of them.

Is there a split by model?

There could be, but only if you either have a considerable amount of free time (or perhaps work for AML or DVLA).

When the 2014 data is on the 'howmanyleft' website, you could note the new 2014 registrations for each Aston Martin model. There are many, because Autos, Roadsters etc. each show as a separate model.

If the overall total matches the figure for 2014 in my table, then the information is probably accurate.

Any volunteers? - smile

I can't see the downward trend reversing until some new models arrive.

2014 was a record year for other manufacturers. e.g. Bentley and RR.

Ok - feeling bored, and interested in the subject so I've given it a go, however I have noticed towards the end of the process that the 2014 "New Reg" figures on howmanyleft are only to 30 Sept 2014 at the moment, so 2014 will have to be revisited later.

Anyway, here are the numbers from the website, so don't shoot the messenger if they appear nonsense. (unless of course I have added them up wrongly!) wink

Year DB9 Virage DBS Vanquish V8 Vantage V12 Vantage Rapide Zagato One-77 Lagonda Cygnet Unknown Model Total

And just for side by side comparison purposes:

Year Official Total Howmanyleft Total
2004 - 411

2012 932 1053
2013 926 1035
2014 864 757

So not that far out really...

Thank you Adam. I did not expect anyone to attempt that. Well done.

Hope you don't mind but ...

I noticed the Vanquish numbers looked low, so as there should only be two different models and therefore one of the easier to do, I had a go at the 'howmanyleft'.

They list 4 models, and although I would have thought Vanquish S was the Mk 1, they do show 7 cars in 2012 and 4 in 2013. Anyway those small numbers don't make much difference.

Your figures of 2012 = 7 and 2013 = 11, appear to miss the Vanquish V12 Auto model, where they show 2012 = 12 and 2013 = 194.

Sorry to spot that. I'm turning off now. Good night.

Opps - good spot, you are quite right! I had totally omitted missed the "Vanquish V12" and had only included the other Vanquish entries as you say! It was quite a repetitive job, so that's my excuse! smile

Tables above now corrected.

First question - Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Presumably they obtain the registration data from the DVLA.

Second question - I don't know, but my guess would be a tiny percentage of the total. On this forum during the last three years, only one contributor has described an uneconomic repair 'write off', but that car later resurfaced duly 'repaired'.

Interesting to see the Virage out sold the DB9 during its two years in production. I didn't appreciate just how many DBS's had been sold, that's a lot. What a shame to see the Vantage sales struggle the last few years, it is such a great car and could have really be a saviour for AM if they were still selling 1000 a year.

Jon thanks, the write of may be higher based on the number of second hand parts form dealers etc but I guess not easy to find out, thanks.

SMMT have a system that most manufacturiers use to assist in the registration of new cars so it's likely to be their own data or at least data that flows back and forth with the DVLA.

There are also companies like JATO that do a lot of analysis on vehicle registrations. They get a lot of their data from the manufacturers and have researchers looking at trim and spec on models and draw out assumptions on whatever data they can get. The research is often used to determine spec on new cars and pricing options if you believe their blurb.

Either way... Astons numbers seem to be shrinking
