I'm having a look at Vantages coupes, probably '11 onwards.

Is there anything I should be aware of in the pipeline, any updates, that might effect prices, residuals? Also what's the thoughts on colour? There's endless shades of grey, silver, black, all very monochromatic, so are the more colourful cars difficult to sell? I like the look of the more subtle reds, blues and green although there's not many about especially in the later cars.

Yes, lots of thoughts.

The first being: please use the search function. This question comes up A LOT. Several times already this week, if I'm not mistaken.

And then, buy the book: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

IF you've still got any questions, fire away.

Vast majority are greys or blacks.
There are some nice pearls in those colours
MY11 is just before they facelifted and did a lot of updating (steering, brakes, suspension etc)
Usual reply to these threads is buy the book linked at the top of the page wink

Right, so '12 onwards is a better time I guess. Thanks for the heads up on the book, ordered!

Aston Martin use the model year system, with any changes for the next model year usually commencing in September.

For the Vantage 4.7, the cars in Model Years 2009, 2010 and 2011, were little changed.
The changes that Mike mentioned came later than normal, and so are referred to as Model Year 2012.25. You can easily recognise some of those changes - bigger rear spoiler and a front splitter.

I suppose the colour thing is perhaps part of the understated look, but there are some cars about in the colours you mention. More recently, the V12 Vantage S model is often in a much bolder colours than normal.

It is rumoured that the replacement is not due until September 2017.

Got it.... I'm good with understated too.

It's undoubtably out of my league but any deals to be had on new cars? Some of the '15 colours looks really classic, at least on the configurator!

Try them. When I got mine I went in for a used car. Looked longingly at a new Vantage and salesman said what will you pay for it. I made him a stupid offer to which he laughed.

He phoned me at the end of the month and asked if I still wanted the new car at the price I suggested. Deposit was made over the phone 1 minute later ( the time it took me to get my card! ).

Nothing ventured and all that!

Steve's car I assume, might have been a new car in stock at a dealer.

The basic rule seems to be;
- order a new car to your exact specification, and it is full list price. You can see it being built though.
- find a new car in stock at a dealer (which might happen to be close to the spec. you want), and the price could be very tempting.

In the used market, the early 4.7 cars during the past few years:
From list plus options down to about £50,000 by year four, and seem to have remained at that level for the past two years.

A lot of the changes to the 4.7 came from the 4.7S which had been out a year ir two although not all to the same quality - eg new front and rear bumper design is plastic on the 4.7 and includes carbon fibre on the 4.7s. You might therefore be able to get an earlier S for similar money to a later 4.7, trading age and miles etc for the better car.

There's no right price/model/age point to buy as it tends to be factored into the price and it's what matters to you.. I think I'm like a lot of people though that started with a budget and type of car in mind and ended up having spent more.
