I have searched forums..........but couldn't find anything on this topic.

I own a 2008 V8 Vantage Roadster.

In the center console compartment I have an iPod connector lead that connects to an iPhone4s to play music - but does NOT charge the device.

Now I would like to use an iPhone5c in the car to play music, but was wondering if there is a cable I can buy that will enable me to play the music AND charge the phone at the same time ?

Thanks,
Nick

I've purchased a similar item off eBay for £3 (it supports audio output) and will see if this plays music and charges the phone.

If not then will purchase the above accessory off the Apple store and try that next.

Thanks.

The Scosche adapter worked well for me to charge 4s. It appears that the voltage that 4s and newer models require is different and an adapter is needed. Search for Scosche passport charging adapter on Amazon.com or .co.uk. There is no reference to 4S but it works.

Hi all, first post here, someone ring the bell! I recently purchased a 2008 V8V, and it's a pleasure to be among all you fine folks.

I called the Galpin parts dept in Van Nuys CA to order the 8G43-37-11078 IPOD GEN 2 UPGRD KIT. They told me the part is for 2009 and up, and it's nonrefundable. Meanwhile mine's MY 2008. Has anyone tried the module in their 2008 to confirm it works before I purchase?

I should add that I looked all over the internet for the Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter for iPod and iPhone (Black) Scosche (572) but couldn't find it anywhere. All Amazon links and the sort are dead and gone, unfortunately. If anyone knows where that might still be sold, please let me know.

I should also add I'm trying to avoid a Bluetooth, FM modulator, or any other solution that's wireless AKA not the Apple lightning connector physical wire handling both the charging + audio in one.

Gday2 / Christian, do you mind elaborating?

Do you know that this part works for a 2008 Vantage? I contacted them, they seem to be unsure.

Do you know if this is the same part as the Aston OEM 8G43-37-11078 IPOD GEN 2 UPGRD KIT? I asked this of them twice, but haven't gotten an answer.

Thanks

James, thanks. One other question for the undisputed expert: I've heard that the dealer needs to program the kit, is this true? Or is it just a simple swap mostly involving a screwdriver (as discussed here to make future readers' lives easier https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... )? Perhaps it's the Bluetooth kit or some other kit that needs programming, but not this simple/"dumb" module?

Btw, I've seen your somewhat recent CarPlay solution on redpants and youtube, that looks superb. It's obviously much more capable than this kit, and not a messy bandaid solution add-on like most 3rd party solutions. Anyway, I plan to go that route eventually because it's a no-brainer to bring the car closer to this decade (or even last decade!), and I've identified a local installation shop that's already done them, but plan to do the iPod kit in the meantime.

Yes it is a plug and play set up. The 4 small phillips screws can bit a bit of a pain to remove... but once the screws are out, you can remove the plate and then the connector box is easily accessible. Unplug, plug in the new one and replace the plate and screws.

However if you're going to have CarPlay fitted, then this part isn't used, so it might be a bit of a waste...

All the best,

James
