Quicksilver SuperSport Exhaust
Discussion
Good Evening Everyone,
I've recently purchased an Aston Vantage 4.3 and absolutely loving it! It is by far the best all round sports car I've owned so far. I am looking to purchase a Quicksilver Supersport or SS plus exhaust. I've already removed the Fuse 22 but it isn't loud enough for me on a weekend drive to be honest.
I would love to be able to hear the SS and SS Plus on somebody's car before I decide to buy, as I plan on using the car to travel down through France a few times in the summer and the gf complains if the exhaust is too loud at motorway speeds! I had a Lotus Exige S with stage 3 pipes which was quite uncomfortable after a few hours drive. As to avoid buying an exhaust that's too loud and having to remove it, or buying the quieter exhaust and always wondering what the louder pipe would be like. So is there anyone who is based in the South Wales area who has a Quicksilver pipe that I can have a listen to? I would be willing to drive a bit to have a listen to another car - as YouTube never really does it justice. Or if you have a Quicksilver exhaust that your looking to sell then please let me know.

IMHO, don't bother changing the backbox. Change the exhaust manifolds and cats instead (for 200 cell varieties).
Don't worry, it will be more than loud enough for you. But the exhaust will also be switchable so you can choose when it is either loud or quiet. Your gf will be happy. And so will you.

Went through a similar process myself in Nov/Dec last year - was hoping to hear the exhausts in person (as YouTube is impossible to judge), but it didn't work out. Ended up being offered a superb deal on Quicksilver Sports exhaust by a fellow PHer (I'd ruled out the SS+, so it was the SS or Sports), so went and had it fitted. To say I'm happy with the sound is an understatement! I absolutely love every time I drive the car
, but my gf is 100% happy too, we've done a 3-hr trip in it with no complaints, even at motorway speeds. My long-term plan to do the 200-cell cats etc, but for a bargain price on a second-hand QS back box, it was a great way to get the sound as a starting point. Good luck!

Good luck! Thanks for the replies and advice guys. As lovely as it would be for manifolds and cats it would be too expensive for me to warrant to be honest Bravo. However, I bet it would sound lovely. Like you say - a second hand QS exhaust system would be a great starting point - upgrading at a later date with a set of 200 Cats maybe.
i got a local dealer to adjust a few standard 200 cell race cats to fit the vantage, total cost was 600 euro.
id really recommend staying with the standard exhaust, the 4.3 exhaust is much favored by people who upgrade the exhaust system as it has a nice suond with race exhaust or 200cell cats, uses the valves still and has the best crackle and pop on downshifts.
Really, go to a car shop that has a good welder, and get them to weld some flanges that fit the vantage with some standard 200 cell race cats.I can make a pic of the design of my own cats if youre really interested.
Dont pay 1500-2000 dollars, for something thats really easily made and for any normal sports car doesnt cost more than 400-500$. Just because its an aston, there is no reason to pay 2000$, thats just plain silly.

I had a 4.7 V8V. Like many owners I wanted a better soundtrack. I initially fitted a QS supersports back box and whilst the sound is a big improvement there is no switch to adjust the volume. I very quickly changed it back to the stock backbox and instead replaced the cats with 200 cells and manifold. Now with a switch to control the exhaust valves it was quiet when needed (wife on board) and hounds from hell the rest of the time. Absolutely awesome and controllable with bonus of added power. I'd certainly go that route rather than the QS box. You don't need to do the manifolds and can just put on the cats if you like. I'm sure the cost is probably not much different to the QS. I used Bamford Rose who were really helpful with advice. Give Mike a call.

Smile almost as big as when I sat in my first AM. Just finished off a bottle of Dom to celebrate. Sometimes wonder if parting with Thor was the right thing to do but hey life moves on. The deposits down on the fezza now and I'm off down to JCT on Sunday to sort out the final spec. I have to say thats not an unpleasant task! So hoping by late spring to have some new wheels to enjoy. Those pleasant chaps at JCT are even arranging a visit to Maranello for my and the missus. Much as i loved my 2 Astons I have to say that the experience dealing with Ferrari has been something else so far. Then I suppose it should be for the hit on my wallet. We'll wait and see if ownership lives up to expectation. I hope Buck's running smoothly mate and providing thrills. We may yet get to meet up at some point. To the OP sorry for hijacking your thread. Go for the cats, you won't regret it. Edited by lime1 on Tuesday 3rd February 23:04
JP, I had no idea, but so pleased your on the mend, just the most fantastic news. Great news on The Fezza also, I'm sure you'll love it to bits. Buck has yet to miss a beat, still as raucous as ever, I'm not sure I'd ever want to change it. OP, good luck with whichever route you go down, it can only enhance a fabulous car

Hi Mark. Doing fine thanks. Just missing a car. Best news of all today when I found out the cancer treatment I've been having for the last 6 months appears to have been successful and my check scan was clear.

I am so glad you are getting fit and well again. The new toy will be a suitable reward after trying times. Wishing you a full recovery Darren

To the OP, I'm sure that you've probably seen it already but this first post sums it up pretty well:

The quicksilver Supersport back box will make your ears feel like you have just heard heaven... As long as you leave it at that.... But if you want to go the full hog like I did, air intake, manifolds, cats, back box etc... Then do some more research... But if sound is all you are after then the QS SS is best choice...

All the best. I will let you know how I get on in regards to exhausts/cats - will post pics/video for you all to see.
