I have been lurking here for a while trying to learn as much as possible. I purchased a 2011 V8VS Roadster about a month ago and after figuring out how to work the Emergency brake properly and putting in a new battery I finally got her out for a 500 mile weekend trip up the Northern California Coast. The weather was perfect for top down driving and one of the most beautiful roads I have ever traveled. To be official here are a few pictures.

Stunning looking car there - great pictures.

You may want to take it back to the dealer though - I think they have fitted the steering wheel on the wrong side <grin>

Absolutely stunning and many congratulations on your new baby - welcome to the 'Club'!

And, if nothing else, I have now learnt that a handbrake can also be called an emergency break! It sounds so much more dramatic!!! Thankfully it must works... or else it would have been off the cliff seen in the pictures. rotate

Enjoy the car and we are all jealous that you don't have to have a number plate on the front.

Really nice car. I did the West Coast from SF to LA in November. In a bloody Chevy, terrible car. Was on the look out for an Aston the entire time but didn't see one in the entire two weeks.

Stunning car! Love Northern California, done a fair bit of driving/ riding north of San Francisco, but only ever in crappy hire cars/ bikes. Must be awesome in a decent car!

or even an emergency brake. hehe

p.s. I'm none the wiser as to why it's for emergencies!

Because it has a mechanical linkage which means it can still be operated in the event of a total hydraulic failure (like when the baddies cut your brake lines).

Well, I suppose it's only to be expected that America could invent a new term for something that's been called a handbrake for over 100 years hehe

p.s. The humour is because one uses it all the time not just in emergencies wink

FYI: We also call it a parking brake.

Anyway, I'm being rude, forgive my ribbing, so welcome to Pistonheads and that's a nice Aston you have. Looks especially good in the Californian sunshine, not that I'm jealous here in wet, cold blighty.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome and the great humor. I like the term hand brake much better so now I have a new term in my vocabulary! The exterior in Morran Black which has a very brown tint to it in the sunshine. The interior in Sierra Tan with the piano black ski slope and black roof.

The joy of living in California is the weather. I have had the car about a month now and don't think I have driven it with the top up yet. The bad part of that is "we need rain!" We had zero rain in January and are in a severe drought.

Don't think I ever used mine. Just put it in P. Great car. Nice to see an alternative interior to black.
