V8V All 12v Sockets Live?

Afternoon,

Is it normal for all three of the 12v cigarette sockets to be permanently live?

I'm trying to install a Dash Cam, but want to trial it before hard wiring it in. I tried to plug into the arm rest adaptor and the camera powered up, without my key in the ignition? Same for the ash try, and boot sockets?

I guess them must be permanently connected as some use them for trickle chargers.

'Ash tray' and boot sockets are definitely live all of the time. (My MY doesn't have an armrest socket. Or an opening armrest, TBF).
