Hi All,

Apologies for raising a topic - which has has likely been covered numerous times - however this forum has always been good for getting some much needed advice. My '09 V8V is just coming up for its 72 month service. Car has done less <25,000 miles & well looked after - with less than 7,000 miles since last service - 12 months ago.

Just contacted my local 'independent' Aston Service Centre (North London) & been quoted £1016 for the base service price (72 months / 60,000 mile). Service is said to include labour, oil and standard checks. Just wanted to sanity check whether this is competitive and / or recommendations on alternative independents?
I've been used to Porsche / BMW service prices in the past - but this seems to be in a different league & just want to check I'm not being taken for an absolute ride.

Help / advice as always, massively appreciated.
Regards
Ian

Sounds very costly - no plugs even? Make sure you compare the right service.

Call a main dealer and ask for a deal. The best ones will.

Make sure they adjust the tappets, change the rotor arm and grease the points if they are charging over a grand!!! wink

When buying my current car the Sales Lead was telling me that Aston was changing its service policy to compete with Porsche.
The idea being as Porsche do they only change items as needed i.e. if your car has only done a couple of thousand miles since last service it clearly doesnt need a £100.00 air filter etc.
This should make them much more competetive.

I think if you use an independent you will be in the £600-700 range inc plugs, so definitely worth a ring around

That sounds too much for a car of that age. Give Aston Martin Works a call - they do fixed price servicing and is surprisingly competitive. Better for a car's history/resale as well rather than an independent (generally speaking). On their website it says £934 for that service (which is noticeably more than other years unfortunately for you!). Not sure if you'll be able to negotiate at all, but they do do free pickup in a covered transporter lorry within 50 miles.

This. I think it absurd they change brake fluid annually let alone synthetic engine oil that may have only done a couple of thou. Same oil does 18k in my oil burner twin turbo. Common sense and proportionality are missing.

Agree with all the advice given. Just had mine serviced by a main dealer and used the Works price (link above) as the starter for negotiation. Your 'independent' is taking the mick!!!

Even those prices are high.

In that link, AMW are quoting £881.98 for an 8 year V8V service. I have been quoted £679.98 elsewhere (AM approved), and that is before any negotiations.

After a little haggling I'm getting my 8th year service for £800 (JCT Leeds).

As side note, the drivers seat belt is quite badly frayed, I presume this will fail the MOT?
Any ideas on replacement costs?
