Hi all
I am organising a driving route from Geneva to South of France and back to Geneva,
Just wondered if anyone has any good stop over points or must see roads its a 5 day trip,
Any suggestions would be appreciated and also hotels with parking and things to do
Cheers Mike

Napoleon is OK
My favourite resource for roads in that neck of the woods

Lake Serre Poncon is a nice round route, Route Des Cretes in the Verdon Gorges is great as well. Col de Bonette is good (claimed to be highest "paved" road in Europe)

Our favourite stop off in that neck of the woods

You must do Route Napoleon if you're in that part of the world. I would definitely describe it as more than "OK" but then Mikey is more of seasoned Euro-hooner than most smile

We stayed here when we did it, which is pretty much right at the start (at the Grenoble end) of the N85

Nice place, and lots of parking.

Much like the fabled EVO triangle there are better roads with less traffic on them wink

Ensure your passenger has their driving licence so they can drive when you get banned?

Just a bit further East and you have the Stelvio Pass...

Not sure when you are going but this is what it was like on 31 May 2012. We didn't make to the top because of avalanches and had to turn around and go back. Love the second picture! Now that is a real Aston owner yes

Not really, we did Stelvio to Mulhouse in France via long lunch at Lake Zurich easily in a day. (With the added bonus of doing the Fluela pass)

Quickest route is 6 hours and 510 km from Geneva in the opposite direction wink

Nice place, and lots of parking.
+1 for the Route Napoleon and the Commanderie
(lucky enough to have driven the Route Napoleon from Grasse to Grenoble. Also been to the Commanderie - I worked in Grenoble for @8 years and lived near Voreppe).
Nice runs past Lake Annecy and Aix-les-Bains (restaurants overlooking the lake).
Head into the Alps and you'll find spectacular views and tunnels smile
