Discussion
I'm sorry to ask again as I know this topic has been discussed but the PH search is so appalling, I can't find the details.
I am looking to have by car paint restored and brought back to life (after years of neglect and sponge washing). Once done, I was thinking about a full car vinyl wrap, ideally in self healing film like xpel (if others agree).
I live between Reading and Oxford and so reasonably local to allow pick-up or easy delivery would be ideal.

d. Stupid phone. I'm willing to detail Aaron's too if they pay me enough....
Also, on the subject of film, I only recommend Paintshield in Peterborough, purely because they are the best at what they do and also I can detail the car there prior to the film being fitted.
I'm glad you sorted that out Paddy.

Raddy is doing my Aaron shortly at Paintshield prior to them fitting some self harming film he recommends ……...
You and your Aaron won't go far wrong with Raddy and Paintsheild, plus Tony Hall could always supply you with a lovely set of bespoke sill plaques for your Aaron…...
There you go the jobs a goodun….

All I would say is that Paddy detailed my V12 Vantage S prior to Paintshield doing an excellent job last October. I have used other film before on previous Astons - but this self healing film and Paintshield is highly recommended. A good friend recently took delivery of a new V8 Vantage S and on its' first long trip he managed to collect three noticeable chips on the bonnet.....
Please forgive my ignorance here, but how well does a car clean up after paintshield has been applied ?
I'm not familiar with it at all, however assume it's a far superior version of the standard protection which is on the nose of my SP10 (covering the bumper and up to the top of the lights) ?
If that's the case then how do you bring that sine up on it when it's effectively covered in a film ?
On a separate note, what sort of money is a full wrap ?

In all honesty, having a whole car covered is a great idea, but its also very expensive. The good thing about the latest generation of self healing film is that its got much more clarity than anything anyone is used to thats not had it applied. If you have had dealer applied stuff or the old venture shield stuff, you will be surprised with how good this is. The good thing about it is that if you get light marks in the film, you simple get it out in the sun or pour hot water over it and it sorts itself out.
90% of the people that have it go for the full front end and then maybe the sills, followed by a sealant on the rest of the panels.
Ultimately, it never really get swirled and tired looking like regular paint, but before its applied, its worth having it detailed first.

Not cheap (as I'm leaning)!! I've been quoted about £6k and that's before the detailing. The quote was for a FULL wrap but I think that's a huge amount.I had a full respray on a BMW 645 last year for £1,800 and the work was flawless. £6k to protect the paint to save me £600 for a full detail every 2 years and or £1,800 every 5yrs is not the economics I was looking for!
I think the film is AMAZING but for me the economics don't look they stack up.

£1,800 is a great price for an Aston respray. I had three quotes from reputable people in and around London, and they averaged £6k+VAT.Edited by montecristo on Tuesday 7th April 21:19

These guys appear to be good at wraps! http://pwpro.co.uk/portfolio/aston-martin-dbs-vola...
Ah, the lovely colour of Pepto Bismol. Which is ironic, because you prolly need to take some of the "pink stuff" after you see that car in person.
