Hi,

I have been a 'lurker' (awful word a little too close to midnight stalker for my liking!) on this forum for some time and used to own a DB9, so am not completely ignorant to the joys of owning an Aston Martin. I am seriously considering pulling the trigger (tomorrow) on a 2010 low Mileage DBS. My question is, given in its day the DBS was top of the tree, did it come highly spec'd as standard or do cars vary greatly in what they offer? I have done a little research on the 'net, but can't seem to find anything conclusive.

For example: is the B&O stereo a standard feature, and if not what is the standard stereo like?; and, are there any other options that I should be enquiring as to whether the car does or does not have?

I am happy with the colour/mileage etc and will definitely have a DBS in the very near future, but as I plan to keep and enjoy the car for some time I want to make sure I get the right one and don't regret not being a little more patient and holding out a little longer.

Any thoughts/assistance would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers

KarlFranz

"The Book" answers all these questions and many, many more.

Look for it in the sticky thread section.

DBS are for all intents and purposes equipped the same. B&O is the only audio on a DBS unless it is an early one, in which case it is Alpine (no choice in the matter). So just pick the car you like from an exterior/interior color combo, no need to worry about 'spec'. It isn't an entry level model after all.

Biggest choice will be manual or auto.

Most of the option money will have gone on paint, wheel and trim options so as has been said choose the one you like the look of. Bizarrely one option was auto dim mirror but you would be hard pressed to find a car without it!

Good luck.

Gents (slight assumption I know),

Many thanks for the speedy answers, very helpful. I will order the 'book' tonight.

An evening of contemplation for me; decision time tomorrow morning, then possibly pics to follow soon.

Cheers,

Pretty sure not much to choose. Colour, auto/man, brolly in the boot. I even thought the B&O was standard once it came out.

Theres 2 wheel designs knocking around. I think a look on either auto trader or aston Martin used and you'll see the differences.

Enjoy the buying smile

Edit - b&o easily spotted by the speaker on the transmission tunnel near the footwell.
Think another option was rear seats. Personally I wouldn't be bothered either way, you'll probably never use them.

Hi

I have been looking for a DBS for a few months and if the car you are looking at is the Storm Black DBS at the Sevenoaks dealer, it's a great car with a good combo inside. I saw the car at there Cambs showroom when it was there a month ago. It was my second choice of car. Well it was my first choice until I found Carbon Black car I have. Well at the end of the month if all goes well!
Good luck with it when you get it!

They all come with an umbrella...not an option. As I said, this is not an entry level Aston where these items are optional.

Apologies - I misread your post. I thought you said b&o was an option not the only option.

And I was joking about the brolly. Even if it was a option it's hardky a deal breaker

Hi Andy,

I did look at and test drive the car at Sevenoaks but that is not the one I am thinking of going for. It was a lovely car but black is not the colour for me when it comes to the DBS - the constant need to clean it would drive me insane after a while. I am going to chat with the seller tomorrow morning and hopefully we will be able to agree a deal that satisfies both parties. All being well I could be driving the car on Friday/Saturday with a big smile and light wallet.

Jon, as soon as you put the stereo on it says Bang & Olufsen, and I'm pretty sure it's written on the door speakers. The dashboard speakers are a giveaway too biggrin

OP is looking at 2010 model. No chance of a Manual. I think they stopped doing Manuals 12 months after launch. TT only smile

It says Bang & Olufsen on the side speakers and they are silver, as are the speakers either side on the transmission tunnel.

Pop up tweeters another giveaway.

You can get a 2010 B&O manual by the way yes

I know - when you're surfing the net I found I needed a quick way to tell and I found the speaker was an easy one.

Wow, BMW Orient Blue is a new one on me.

Did TT become standard after 2009, with Manual as an option confused

You could but one of the final Ultimate Editions in manual if you wanted to pay list price. You could even have had it in Volante form. My guess would be every single one of the 100 cars were dealer speced.

The Orient blue car has been on sale for ages. It keeps changing dealer and price. Probably one of the best and rarest DBSs made though.- any ideas why it's missing the DBS logo on the seats ?
