Checking in to see if anyone has heard about the forth-comming DB9 GT which allegedly will be the DB9 with a manual transmission option, more HP plus the Vanquish's interior... It would be the DB9's last hurrah before the re-do. If its offered, I'm in.

I have a friend who would be all over that like a rash ! It's the ideal car for someone with a manual DBS who hasn't changed because they love MT - it's actually a really smart move to offer something different, rather than trying to compete with an ageing car. I don;t think they would sell huge numbers, but surely they would sell 100s

Knowing AM, they may make it a limited edition of, say, 500. No problem selling that amount I dare say smile

i dont think anyone is stupid enough to swallow this limited edition anymore seriosuly.
it is just marketing bunkem to make you think you have something special. aston just make up a car, think how many they might sell, then announce that number.
everyone then gets excited "wow i now will be one of only 500 if i buy that"
well, you were only ever going to be anyway.

could be worse, you could be buying the last of the last and you get what emptied out of the parts bins.

Disagree Russell. You and I may not be but the strategy has been successful (mostly) in the past and will continue to be so for such a niche provider yes

A manual DB9.2
More HP

For those of us that need the extra seat in the back (mine used to be a 2+2 when I bought it, now it's a 2+1 for me due to kids growing up (too) fast!) ... what's not to like!

That extra seat or two makes a massive difference to practicality and therefore usage for people like me who have kids that need to be ferried around in two cars at weekends.. I would have gone for a manual V12 Vantage if I didn't need the extra seats.

oh i didnt say it wasnt successful, it clearly is as they keep doing it, it does though rely on a steady stream of pretty gullible people. aston must think they exist or they would just make a car and then sell a car. like others do.

saab never said they were doing a limited edition of 50 despite the likelyhood thats all they might sell.
what next, £99,999.

oh absolutely spot on, i wasnt thinking that many buying a car here are that daft but the world is clearly full of gullible idiots and the aston marketing machine has them in their sights as they can hardly bring out a car these days without it being a "limited edition"

think of how many you might sell, add a few more, lie about your sales to either sell more under the table or say they were all sold when they werent and you were the fool for not buying one when you could, so get your deposit down for the next DB9 lookylike bodykit last of the manuals or last of the V12's or maybe not or maybe who cares anyway just hand over your money as we are desperate.

i could write their brochure

Oh Russell you are in a joyous mood !!!!

The sun is shining and I'm taking the wife out for some posh grub tonight yes

Work is starting to quieten down, so less people are popping their clogs.

Focus in on the reasons to be cheerful biggrin

I wonder if sometimes there might be regret, that the numbers chosen were too low.
I am thinking of the GT12 and the Vulcan.

The marketing 'machine' told us both models sold out very quickly. It does appear that no more orders are being accepted.

If development costs are being recovered by the 100 and 24 cars respectively, any additional cars should then produce very worthwhile profits (to help reduce the overall loss).

Was this a missed business opportunity?

My estimate is far more than 100.

The Company speak of 80% production being exported.
If that is applicable to the DB9 models, then about 1,000 would have been built last year.
199 new DB9s were registered in the UK during 2014.
