AMV V8 Body Upgrades
Discussion
I've had my 2007 AMV V8 for nearly 3 years and I love it now as much as I did on the first day I picked it up. But it would be nice to up date the body work as I've never thought the backend looked that good but when the V12 came out I loved what they had done to it.
It would be nice to get a V12 but there is no way I can justify spending another 40K+ on top of what I'd get for mine so I was thinking of doing a sort of V12 tribute. If when I came to sell it (probably not for at least another 5 years) would it put people off with the up grades I had done to the car?
Wheels, bonnet, sills, front and rear bumper in carbon and the tailgate.
Would love to hear your thoughts.

If you do the maths, it's a really bad idea.It would be nice to get a V12 but there is no way I can justify spending another 40K+ on top of what I'd get for mine so I was thinking of doing a sort of V12 tribute. The V12 bonnet plus 4 carbon fibre grills = £3000 + 2x £800 + 2 x £400 = £5400
Wheels - £4000
Front bumper and splitter on V12 is about £4500
Rear bumper and carbon fibre section is about £5000
I don't know what sills cost.
Throw in a complete respray - bonnet to match wings - so wings then doors, front and rear bumper and then why not just finish the job and do the whole damn thing?
So let's say £20k for parts, plus £5k for painting. You are £15k under the £40k. Not to be sniffed at, but at the end of it you have a "bitsa" car. I doubt many folks would want to pay for that - many would be put off my the "looks but not the grunt".
Obviously your decision and good luck with whatever you do, but financially you are pouring lots of money straight down the drain...
Hi John, thanks for your views and I know where you are coming from with the cost but I can get it all done for around 8k - 9k. (Been picking up bits as they come along on Ebay etc) so when you look at it from that point of view its not quite so bad. Maybe an idea would be to keep all the old bits and put them back on the car when I decide to let her go then sell the other bits on.
My last car was a 4.5 Cerbera which had a similar 0 - 60 time of the V12 vantage so I'm not so interested in speed, been there done that, got the speeding tickets. Mine has had a power upgrade and the sports back box and kicks out 409 bhp so thats plenty for me.
So do you think the V12 sills look better than the 2012 vantage facelift sills?

I personally avoid cars that have been made to look like other cars. Don't mind the odd subtle mod(carbon mirrors for example) but doing the bonnet etc is bit like putting side blades on an Audi TT.
Yes I'm going off the bonnet mod very quickly. Shame as Ive seen one for £1100 but when you have to get the vents as well its looking more like 2k plus the paint. Titan the Robot said:

V12 sill are also standard on the V8SSo do you think the V12 sills look better than the 2012 vantage facelift sills?
The MY12.25 facelift sills are actually from the N400 back on 2008
I much prefer the N400 sills but they don't lok right the the current bumpers IMHO
Yes I am starting to make my mind up and will probably go for the N400 sills, but I prefer the current bumper set up. Each to their own I guess.
I am so glad I didn't take the V12 Vantage for a test drive when I had chance as I think I would have been putty in their hands. lol
