Experts said winds yesterday reached 30mph. An investigation was launched today to find out whether “unusual windspeed” had an effect on the 50-year-old tree falling.

Where there's blame there's a claim.

Dear Mrs M Nature.
It has come to our attention that on or about the 6th of May 2015 you wilfully allowed an unusual gust of wind to occur in Islington.
The plaintif feels this is an unreasonable act. It is also our view that you should have given more support to one of your creations ( the tree).
We feel the above mentioned tree should have been given more substantial supports to foresee said unusual gusts.
Furthermore we fell your tree should have come with warning signs or an expirey date.
If we do not hear from you within 14 days we will accept this as a sign of your guilt and proceed accordingly.
Yours
Bodget, scarper, and leaches.

Poor guy, that really sucks for him. When I have my car down in Clapham its left well away from the trees, more so for the resident pterodactyls dropping their dinner onto my paintwork than for fear of a falling tree frown

The tree looks diseased to me so not surprising a bit of wind brought it down. Wonder if the council has any liability idea
