Bonhams at Works
Discussion
Am I missing something here? Is there an understanding between Works and Bonhams that Works will hide all their cars?
Given there are busloads of folk with wallets big enough to buy £100k + cars on the drop of a hammer and they are all gathering in one place at one time why aren't works flooding the carpark with their cars for sale? Im sure many dealers would love to have that kind of captive audience.

They did have a line up of the Works specials which with mustard yellow wheels, side strakes, stitching, etc, were frankly horrible. What were they thinking????Given there are busloads of folk with wallets big enough to buy £100k + cars on the drop of a hammer and they are all gathering in one place at one time why aren't works flooding the carpark with their cars for sale? Did anyone on here buy anything ?
Not in the auction, but I did get a car cover for the Vanq. Bit boring, but there you go. I really have spent enough on all things car related this year and with no offers for the kids or any of my organs I'm going to have to wait another year for that elusive DB5. Unfortunately.
I bought a DB5 and a DBS. A bargain at £2 each, even for hotwheels, and my boys love them. There cant be many of us who can say "yes, I bought him a DB5 at the Bonhams auction...."
Also got a brochure on the 80s Aston range which I have been after for years.
Finally, next year I might sell some of my memorabilia. Including the circa 1991 official Aston Martin....shell suit. In 100% British Nylon. My Bovis livery Nimrod racing jacket, AMR1 racing jacket, factory brick given to me by one of the demolition men (mine is from the toilet block, looking at the colouring on it...). There could easily be £25 of value there!!

Surprised that you came away so light handed...
That's why I simply could not go to this auction, it would simply kill me, my mission is a DB2, series 3

Was there a large area of memorabilia, why am I asking
Little Donkey - I saw that stunning new Vanq of yours in car park 1 . It looks even better in the flesh but tell me, does your "disability" impair your driving in any way ?
Those white & mustard Vanqs from Works were already all sold so it is indeed rather odd that they didn't capitalise on such a captive marketing opportunity.
I bought one of the two replica Engine Plate-design signs for "Volante's Lair".
But I was too slow to give only £100++ for the oil on canvas, distressed A.M wings symbol.....I might try to track that artist chap down.
The £1500++ for the combined Goldfinger photos was a shock - although I know a couple of the signatories are no more.
I thought about converting the DBS seats for my desk chairs but the previous owner clearly kept his dogs in the car although the claw marks didn't show in the catalogue pix ! So I hope the £1500++ paid was in the room and not phone/online.
Got so hot & crowded in the afternoon, we only stayed for about a doz of the cars being sold.
