Hi,

I was getting constant 'emission system service required' msgs two months back (P0133 msgs), took car into censored and they replaced the O2 Sensor, bank 1 sensor 1.

Now I am getting the warning up again, this time P2196 which is "powertrain; O2 Sensor Signal Stuck Rich, Bank 1 Sensor1."

I'm waiting to hear back from censored but would prefer not to take the car back to these idiots, horrific customer experience last time around, wasted my time and money.

Do you guys think the new O2 sensor is just settling in or ???

I reset the warning two weeks ago, came back today so it's not an everyday thing.

The car has the Prodrive performance pack; cell 200 cats.

Cheers

My first question would be, did they change the correct sensor ?

I had my local MOT garage change the sensor on my car while I waited, I even pointed out to them which one I wanted changing. £60 later, code cleared and all has been well since....

OP -

Was the sensor changed under warranty ?

If not what was the cost at censored?

Thanks,
Nick

Bogie: That's a good question, although the P0133 msgs have for sure gone (original problem), now replaced with P2196.

NW: This is where some of my issues have come from with censored; the O2 sensor was supposed to replaced under warranty but censored told the warranty company my car had a prodrive exhaust; the warranty company has now ripped up the contract, refused to pay. The garage I bought the car from took out the warranty and they honored the invoice to Aston.

censored did mention during the last visit an error code relating to both prodrive cats looking like they were faulty, on their way out. This performance pack was done only three years ago and covered 2,000 miles. They also said the ECU could have been re-flashed during a service.

I called Prodrive today and their tech guy said he has seen the exact same problem with another customer only a few months back; appears Aston flashed the ECU with their setup and this wiped out some of the setup relating to the emission management (more leniency so I believe. They are looking into it a little more but told me the best option is to come and see them, get their Prodrive setup loaded back into the ECU.

I can say censored are terrible to deal with, charged close to 400 quid to replace a single O2 sensor, took 1 month to book my car in, screwed up the booking costing me 2 hours out of office time, had to call them 4 times for an update and they promised to give details on the health check report but forgot - avoid someone in the service team called Keith. When calling today to let them know about this new issue, I had to chase three times, no call back and had their receptionist tell me they are all busy, overworked and understaffed - found this fairly unprofessional to say the least.

looking forward to using DAE for my next service and may even treat her to some manifolds.

Cheers

I had to replace the two "Upstream" O2 Sensors on my V8VR as I was getting P0133 (bank 1 sensor 1) P0153 (bank 2 sensor 1) "Emission Service Required" every couple of days.
Replacing both O2 sensors cured the issue permanently, the O2 sensors are circa £90 each and in my case a local garage fitted them.

According to my info

P2196 O2 sensor 1-1 Signal stuck rich

MIL status
These codes will not light the MIL

Other info also states
P2196 Lack of Heated Oxygen Sensor (Bank 2, Sensor 1) Switches, Sensor Indicates Lean
