Cyclists might say - 'cool'
Non-cyclists might say - 'well if it's in there, at least it's not clogging up the roads being ridden by some clown in spandex'

I do remember some others have done the same with mountain bikes in the past....you just need a bike bag to keep the car clean smile

I would probably take the right hand pedal off to ensure enough clearance with the tailgate glass

Seems our choices of bike and cars are similar smile

If you're not too tall you can get the bike in with saddle still fitted.
Mines a 50 sloping/ 54 traditional.
I'd thoroughly recommend getting a padded bag to reduce the chance of muck transfer.

Hah! Not seen your thread before.

It was just a one off as I was only in the country for the weekend. I had a large black blanket under the bike which I wrapped around it. Pedal was maybe 40mm away from the glass and it was firmly in place, but would leave it off in future. Front wheel behind the passenger seat. No marks or scuffs whatsoever. Bike is a 55cm top tube. Glorious weather so still had a clean bike after a couple of days riding around Surrey......well riding in the mornings, blasting the car around in the afternoons. Of course.

Great job Phil, I would say COOL for sure.
I have a Storck Platinum and will see if I can get it fitted in the same place too.
BTW, I never understand why a cycling fan who is driving and large estate car on their own, still need need mount their bike on the roof of their car ? I have seen this so many times ?
Cheers Ian.
Oops sorry should the post above.

Nope, but that's hilarious - I hadn't heard about that!
