Vantage V8 Search?

Hi Guys

I've been mulling over a couple of different cars the last few weeks, as I have a couple of young children I wanted a 2+2 but am starting think that its a bit of a waste of time unless I go down the fast saloon type car which does not feel like a weekend only type car, so considering a Vantage V8. MY Exige is getting collected on Tuesday so actively searching currently. Enjoy A roads and Euro jaunts with the guys so purely pleasure driving .. prior to the Exige S I had a XKR and the sounds was wonderful!

My question is I have been looking on the normal AT, PH and Ebay is there anywhere else people sell there Vantages? as quite there are active forum communities and forum member selling there cars on these sites. I had a quick look around and could not see anything obvious.

If you are after the driving experience, have you considered an Evora?

I recently went from a V8V to an Evora S and as great as the V8V is, the Evora will drive rings around a V8 Vantage. There is much less 'theatre' (especially the sound track) but the Evora is a much better handling (and lighter) car.

I remember that car being discussed on here before. I seem to remember an engine rebuild at some point although may be wrong. Mileage may relate to the engine.

Ah, are you talking about the ex-DAE test mule? If so, the actual mileage is >100k!

Hi Guys

Evora is on the radar , am just not "sure" on the look I keep wondering what to do sometimes i love it almost mini super car then other angles it looks uncomfortable with its own design (rear quarter ), when I went to Lotus Silverstone around 2 years ago I was totally disappointed in the one I sat in, the exhaust not was non-existance. I have research exhausts etc so I know this can be resolved. Just not sure it has the "wow" factor of the AM I know the V8V is slower than a m3, 911 and Evora S but were talking small margins. I owned a 911 c2s 997 and M powered cars so owned some of the competition in the past. But every time i search the Evora's I do not get excited as i do when looking at the V8V, maybe something I need to do?

Anyone have a V8V with a nice exhaust and n400 skirts and lights drop me a p/m not fused on colour ... well no greens and if you have a yellow one am in trouble! lol

Found a lovely looking silver on on AT at 34.5k had all the options I wanted on a 07 with 40k near perfect but its sold already doh!

I think you are on about 2 different cars. The DAE car has black leather and full v12v bodywork. It's also painted white not wrapped.

I wonder if it's really as small as you think. I've had my V8V just over a month - I love it, but on the odd occasion I get to floor it I am surprised it's not quicker. Admittedly, I came from a much faster car (mapped 996 turbo) but on my favourite local twisty road, it doesn't feel like much happens if I accelerate hard out of a bend.
I think it does build speed reasonably quickly in a straight line, but it doesn't really "feel" like it does. To put it in perspective, it doesn't really feel like it's much quicker than my Cayenne S.

I have no regrets about buying mine and love it - driving it always feels like an occasion, much more than the turbo did (maybe I owned that too long). But make sure you're happy with the performance before going down the V8V route.

For what it's worth - I love the look of Evoras - like a mini 458 from the front!

What's your budget? Bamford Rose are now selling select used AMs, some very nice examples (yes, I know....). Might be worth a look.

On a second point bit off topic but I started comms with a chap selling a wrapped white Vantage with a lot of upgrades carbon bits and exhaust etc and did a wee google search and found his forum profile on speed6 + PH profile and the information in the advert does not seems to stack up with his posts. As he says the car has 29k on a 05 which is very low yet in 2012 he's referring to hubs being replaced at 28k? I mean its totally possible that 1182 miles has been done in 3 years , and that the post in 2012 was a typo. But i asked if he had done any track days (knowing he had done at least 3 from my research) he responded by only saying only one. Am I thinking this should be well avoided, am 99.99% it has to be the same person , same car and mods, live in the same town have the same first name. The fact am asking this i guess means I know the answer its a shame it looks stunning especially with the tan leather and carbon lovely bits.

Bincenzo has posted on this topic and his well loved example is up for sale. It also has a few upgrades which transform the car into a real drivers car. Might be worth a look.
