"Chock the wheels"?

I got out of my V8V this morning, and noticed that my rear tyre was touching the kerb. I decided to move slightly in case it's tight getting out later, so I got back in to move the car a few inches forwards.
I think this happened when I turned the ignition on, before it did the system check but it might have been after the system check - for a split second, the display flashed up "Chock the wheels". It was very brief - literally 1/10 second before it disappeared.
I assume it was just one of those things, and will never happen again - but I'm curious. Does anybody know when / why it would genuinely display that?
