  • Do you have any issues come MOT time?
  • Any issues with warning lights on the dash?
  • What ones did you go for and why?
  • Worth doing at the same time as manifold? Can that wait for later?
  • Re-mapping?
Thinking of doing this primarily to get a little more power to the back wheels and a little more noise out of the exhaust, along with some pops and bangs on over-run (I know I should have grown up a bit by now!)

I had some nice manifolds and cats (ceramic coated) fitted to my 4.7. I also got a handheld programmer for software.
I've traded that car in now but removed the exhaust before trade in to shift on later.
The exhaust note was louder for sure, the engine revved much faster aswell which made for a more racy note. Power was increased somewhat.

None at all.

* Any issues with warning lights on the dash?
Once in a while, the handheld programmer cleared them.

* What ones did you go for and why?
Similar to the Velocity ones, the designer/builder had a long winded and tecky explanation why it was a distinct improvement. I'm not an exhaust design expert so I went with it! There is definitely an art to exhaust design, make sure the one you choose are not just clones.

* Worth doing at the same time as manifold? Can that wait for later?
Cats are noise, manifold is torque. Cats alone return very little. I'd say get both or not at all.

* Re-mapping?
The map will only be throttle map change and o2 delete/changes. It won't do much for power as I understand it.

If its power you want, go the whole hog, if its noise then cats will do fine. I wouldn't bother with cats alone.

Anyone any opinions on the make to buy? Should I go for one of the big names or would a generic, Long Life type jobby be ok? I assume when it comes to cats there isn't a lot of research etc into the design so no real gains/benefits to paying for the 'label'

I went to Bamford Rose for the 200 cats and slight power upgrade. No issues at all and the noise is transformed. The exhaust is switchable so that you can go into stealth mode but I never have. I thought the engineering of the components was first class. No problems at MOT time and no warning lights at any time. They also incorporate an ECU program upgrade and it makes the car pick up and drive much sharper. I have no hesitation in recommending them.
