Something very strange happened last night ……
Discussion
……… my car changed colour. Last night it was California Sage Green and this morning it’s Ceramic Grey. I’ve asked my wife how she thinks this might have happened and she just gives me that withering look some of you may be familiar with. Other things have changed too. The seats have been replaced with wonderful leather & Alcantara clad carbon fibre lightweight ones. It’s gained a few more horses and you can hear them much more clearly. The steering is a little sharper and the wheels have been stolen and replaced with even nicer ones.

OK, so I’ve upgraded to an SP10 V8VS and I love it. Always wanted an S (or a V12V) but never wanted Sportshift so the SP10 is perfect. Nice example with excellent spec and a bit of interesting provenance:

This doesn’t bother me at all, as whilst Darren has probably fully enjoyed its attributes consistently over the last year, I suspect he can drive with more mechanical sympathy than you or I and let’s not forget that that is how these cars are designed to be driven. I’m rather pleased with it and if anyone is in the market for a MY2009 California Sage 4.7 V8V then just pop along to AM Derby and there is a very nice example there waiting for its next owner.
Happy days!

Not the move I expected next from you but one I'm sure your really going to enjoy……….
We're over your way-ish of the world on Wednesday night (1st July) at the Packe Arms at Hoton for an Aston meet if you fancy showing it off………….
Wonderful all the best,
Ed.

I was so expecting that to be a v12.
For those that knew of my V12V desires, it turned out that it was not possible to get a V12 on & off my evil drive (see MY09 V8V performing this feat below). The V12V is measurably lower than the V8S which does the drive OK - just!Changing house just so I could get a V12V would not have been subject to the necessary domestic permissions so here I am doing what for me is the next best move. TBH I'd always felt that the SP10 might be the one for me but had only ever driven an ASM2 V8S so when this one came up I arranged the test drive with an open mind. The rest, as they say, is history

Congratulations Pete, exciting times ahead! Did they give you a fair price for your trade-in?
Exciting times indeed - four more sleeps!I think it was a fair trade-in price they gave me and I managed to negotiate a couple of things on the SP10. In fact, it was significantly more than I was offered by another dealership a year ago when I was looking at a V12V.
PDarren turners car, registered dec 13? Sounds like one of the winter testing mules, used for clutch work, high speed kerb riding, salt water ingestion, that sort of thing... Usually the winter mules are scrapped, so well done for saving one.
Does it need a lot of work?
very jealous. A lovely car, and probably accompanied him to race meetings last year

Ha ha! Well, it's done 12K miles and has lots of brakes and tyres left and only one stone chip that I could find. So it either transported Darren on long trips to races or has been thoroughly rebuilt after the winter testing you mention. Either way, I'm happy.Does it need a lot of work?
