Anyone tried or heard of anyone using the Sat Nav screen for anything else? I have a friend who replaced a similar screen in his car with an Android tablet of some sort, then run an OBDII with the relevant app and displayed all of that on the screen. Looked fantastic, fitted in perfect so looked OEM.

I just know I won't use it and that screen will spend its life folded away, be nice to have something useful in there.

It can also be used as a rear view camera. I believe it's a conversion some of the specialists do.

Its a great place to put the your phone/ TomTom using one of those windscreen mounts. Just sucker the mount to the front of the screen. It won't damaage it, and then you've got the phone / satnav in the perfect place - no need to look down just glance at the screen for directions.

Just remember to remove the mount when you swith the ignition off

I think the idea of alternative replacement is excellent. What options have we got for after market products?
Anyone got some photos of what they have done?

The Garmin isn't so bad. I tend to keep it open for the speed camera warnings.

Have the factor fit rear view but it turns off once driving - I've seen tesla cars use the big screen they have as a permanent rear view mirror although I guess its back to front compared to what you imagine (ie the left of the screen is actually whats coming up on your right). Now I've said it I'm not sure if they flip the image.

It sounds like the new cares have the ower and torque meters - I have this on my BMW and used it once.

I personally think you'd get bored very very quickly with whatever you do with the screen.
