Have any of you made this move? I'll be interested to hear why and what you thought of the DBS in comparison. I fully apprecaite they are a different kettle of fish - I fancy a change.
Thanks.
Hi,Thanks.
You're in the Aston Martin section so I guess most people will tell you to make the switch.
To my eyes, both cars don't box in the same category but if I had to choose one, after having driven both of them many times, it would be definitely the F430.
The perfect definition of a sport car with a mid-engine, light and nimble car, easy to drive, pretty cheap to maintain and a design which is aging very well.
The DBS is a good car, but in that case a DB9 2008/2009 with 477 hp makes almost the same job. And the 2013 DB9 is even better than the DBS.

Not even close
I test drove both and IMO the feeling was globally the same.
Sure the DBS' esthetic is different, with a better chassis and more power, but it wasn't as if the DBS was from an other planet.
Still I think that the 2013 DB9 is the better compromise of Gaydon era. I found the steering better than DBS and also the more evolved suspension system, with more torque also.
I know the DBS is better than DB9 2008/2009, that's fore sure and I'm not contesting it. I'm just saying that the global feeling remains almost the same.
Anyway, those are good GT cars, but they won't come close to a mid-engine Ferrari.
It only depends on what our friend is looking for... different cars.
Cheers

Thanks. Fully appreciate one is a GT and one is a supercar. My only criteria is something N/A engine and special, for occasional use; I’m not fixated on a particular type of car or manufacturer. The DBS has always caught my eye – it’s a beautiful thing with the right engine.

had a 430 for a weekend trail when i first got my db9.....i gave it back after a couple of hours...thought the car was terrible....but then again i didnt have my pipe and slippers....but i'm not a fan of farreri...cant even spell it....i can spell Aston Though....

To each his own, I think the F430 is one of the greatest sport cars ever made. Especially with the 6-speed manual gearbox.
@cayman-black : You can read my message above, I don't deny the DBS is a better car than a DB9 2008/2009
I simply think, and it's my personal opinion, that the global feeling is almost the same with both cars.
And again, I was more impressed by the DB9 MY2013 than the DBS.
Anyway, here is not the matter. F430 vs DBS : totally different cars, can't be compared.

I sold my 430 2 days ago. Was thinking DBS or Vanquish but concerned that I won't get the same in yer face theatre the430 offered. Keep us posted on how you go.
I went from a gallardo spyder to dbs,the DBS does not disappoint in any way,its relatively quieter but has a unique charm and is very special. Its also much cooler than any ferrari or lambo .SlartiF430 said:

Similiar kind of move. I'll have to get a test drive sorted.V8 Animal said:
Just sold my DBS for £105k so I think the 430 is in that league.
So your talking rubbish
To be fair though, that's top end DBS money and would easily get you a volante. A convertible 458 spider is 175k so I think there is a fair price difference. As a buyer currently weighing up the options, I can easily afford a DBS volante but a 458 slider isn't a no-brainer for me. In fact a vanquish volante is more affordable than a 458 spider. So your talking rubbish
