I'm just trying to establish what the difference is when engaging these modes.

The car is 2011 DBS Volante Touchtronic. On my old DB9 if you engaged sport when using the paddles, the main (only?) difference was that there was no automatic downshift unless you instigated it. On the DBS, in sport, it will downshift at an appropriate speed, exactly as it does in non-sport. So what's the difference? Is there some other change going on in the engine or gearbox? There is also no discernible difference in the driver's manual description.

Also, according to the manual, putting the suspension in track mode makes it better for running on a track (no st Sherlock) but it doesn't actually say what it does. Now it is very obvious that the suspension becomes stiffer, but is that it?

On my Rapide pushing Sport ruins the throttle linearity (it shifts it all up the top) it also prevents it from shifting up automatically when you are in manual gearchange mode (flappy paddles) and it will just hit the limiter. I think it used to open the exhaust valve a bit earlier in the rev range too. The switch is free to a good home!

Damper switch (in mine) closes a valve in the dampers making it all a bit firmer - works really well.
