Hi All,

Just wondered if stone guards were worth fitting to a 2006 (56) Vantage?

If they view is yes - How Hard are the to Fit?

Also, is the film just in front of the rear wheel still required with these in place?

Thanks,
R

I'm having some fitted this afternoon. They cover the whole of the bottom skirts....I had these resprayed a couple of weeks ago and there are already some small chips so I think it might be worthwhile.

Is yours pre 2007 (when I think they had pilot holes for the stone guards?)

If so, how do they fit them?

Mine is a 2007 Roadster - maybe we are talking cross purposes and I have interpreted it wrong. I'm having a paint protection film fitted....

I made and fitted my stone chip protectors a couple of weeks ago due to having the V12 side sills fitted on my V8 Vantage.

I made some templates and bought some 3mVentureshield to cut out (Or you can purchase straight from AM if you want) there are lots of different grades of protective film (Search this website and you will find out)

In a nutshell:

1) Clean the areas where they need fitting.
2) Spray the car and stone chip protectors with a diluted washing up liquid mix, this helps them slide into position (NOTE: Avoid getting finger prints on the sticky side of the stone chip protectors)
3) Peel back and slide into position
4) Squeeze out bubbles and excess washing up liquid using a squeegee (as used for car wrapping)
5) Leave to dry and clean
6) Re-apply any paint surface treatment around the areas of the stone chip protectors.

I did mine and they look really good and saved a few quid in the process.

Thanks Mikey.

Was drilling a hole into your car at all a scary procedure? I'm a bit concerned I'd cause corrosion.

Yes, worth it

but generally from new, or after a respray. If your arches/sills are peppered already they wont help much

I do have them on my 2006 car and they do work ....

Bogie - did you have to drill the arches, or are they self tapping screws? So you could just screw directly into the panels?

Nope drilling was no problem
There is no corrosion risk its not steel

I had to wait 18 months for AM to make them for my DB9.2. An interesting excercise, began with a call to the Q manager. Having agreed they would make them, the process was unbelievably slow. However, the result is all I hoped for, discreet yet effective.

Don't like the mud flap look. Id rather have the clear film applied. Just my opinion.

I did that too, belt and braces. There's no perfect answer, some stones bounce back up behind the stone guards,,,as long as I've tried.

Me too. Just had 'stone guards' fitted to ours and also have film on the sills. I live at the end of a pretty filthy road that means even when the car is spotless when it leaves the house by the time it reaches the main road it is filthy again. The mud flaps will help with that. I think they look pretty good as well.

I had the dealer fit these to my new V8V and don't regret it. They're very discrete and the paint on the sills and rear wings of the car is very vulnerable.
