V8 Vantage - xenons or halogens?

Would be grateful for a bit of help in response to a bit of a noddy question!

I've heard the xenon assembly looks very much like the halogen that shipped on some of the earlier standard vantages. Can you tell without turning them on what you're looking at? And if so, which this is?

Not sure how to tell by looking but you should be able to tell from their characteristics. Halogen bulbs light up instantly, HIDs tend to flicker, then warm up.

On cars with halogens, that black teardrop bit of plastic at the bottom is just a cover on retaining spring. you can pull it with your fingers and see that its just a cover

On cars with HID fitted thats a pop up headlight washer, you cant pull it out

Guess mine are HID then, since I've seen it clean the headlights!

Yep, headlight washers are legal requirement with HIDs

The vast majority of cars have xenons.

Headlight washers are not a legal requirement when Xenons are fitted. My 2015 Cayenne S doesn't have them and they don't figure on the options list.

there are some get out clauses ....like halogen dips and HID mains dont need washers ...its not straightforward
