P0016 Code

Hello everyone, I am looking at buying a 2009 AMV8 Manual and the dealer is trying to diagnose the P0016 Code, they replaced the Crank Sensor but the problem remain so now they thing it is the cabling that is at fault. I though that I read here that if the battery goes dead the crank sensor would have to be re-learned !!! Something like having to drive to 120kph in 6th gear and let the car slow down to 30kph and back to 120kph and back down to 30kph still in 6th gear. After 2 successful run in a row the Sensor is calibrated, or something like that. I am wondering, because the car I am looking at might have had a dead battery that the fix could be to re-calibrate the Crank Sensor, what do you guys think or am I wrong here.
