Hi,

I realise this is a bit of a controversial topic, but I am considering joining and would like to understand the benefits.

I believe that there are some organised AMOC events, AMOC publications and Local Area Meets.

From having a search on here it seems very much like the Local Area Meets are unique to each area. Some Local Areas seem very busy and other less so.

My question is...what AMOC Local Area would I be in and what is it like? I am in London N8.

Many thanks,
R

I was a member but I am too busy at work to attend most of the meetings and events.
Friendly enough crowd, choice of events etc.
I live in Barnet so went to the Herts.venue.

Thanks guys.

Where did you see the DB10?

Can non-members try out the meets before joining do you know? Could I tag along to a meeting in a Herts pub do you think?

Just go on the AMOC website and call them.
No problem in going along to a local meet as a visitor. The local meets are just a group of blokes having a beer and chatting about Astons etc.
I went to Area 12 meets but there are plenty of other areas that might suit you better.

A good number of AM owners, who live in North London, attend Area 11 AMOC meetings that take place at the "Fox and Goose" pub that is located on the Ongar Road, Chelmsford, Essex, (CM13SN). The meetings take place on the first Wednesday evening each month and start at 7:00 - 7:30'ish. I get along to the gatherings from time to time and have always found them to be a really friendly group. At this time of the year there are always fewer of the older cars brought along, however, the summer months will usually see the car park full of Astons from all eras.

It looks like you have a choice between Area 11 (NE London and Essex) or 12 (NE London, Middlesex and Hertfordshire).

Bob and Sandra Binion took over Area 11 about 18 months ago, are working hard to develop the Area and I have no doubt would welcome your contact. According to the AMOC website Area 12 has no Area Rep so not sure what is happening there.

As Steven has said make contact, go along and make your own mind up. Hopefully they will look after you very well and you will want to join.

One of the great things about where you live is you can chose which area you join and also there is nothing stopping you joining events organised by other Area should they be doing something you fancy.

Think yourself lucky if you were down in my Area you would be stuck with me biggrin If you join and fancy joining one of our events down in the SW you will be made most welcome yes

Thanks very much all

Sounds most upbeat. I shall give them a ring and get in touch.

Ian, sounds like your events would be fun. My in-laws are in Surrey, although I consequently tend to avoid the place, I do unfortunately find myself there quite often. Not sure how far West or South your area is, but do let me know.

Cheers
