Just spoken to a main dealer re.cost of a 9 year service for my 2006 DB9.
Offered a "full service" i.e. oil and oil filter, air filters, brake fluid and transmission oil for £900 inc vat.
A change of oil ONLY £650 inc vat (and a stamp in the book)....when I queried why it would cost that much to change the oil I was told it was a 3 hour job according to AM
( removal of undertrays ?)
Now surely that's a lot just to change the oil ?
On their website BR quote £670 for the "full service" (I assume this includes VAT)
Unfortunately BR are to far from me but I shall ask another local indie.
I have posted this to ask for your comments and also as it will be useful for other owners.

Do people moan to you, about the prices your business charges?

So far I have used main dealers, but like you, I always have the feeling that most of my money is to pay for the 'glass and travertine', employees including that special reception lady, 'free' coffee, 'free' borrow car, workshop equipment, and financing millions of pounds worth of idle Aston Martins on the forecourt.

I do know a mechanic who works in a corrugated hut, if you want cheap. smile

Going to see SPECTRE this afternoon!
4G and VIP seats so they tell me.

Not moaning Jon just asking for advice/comments on a sensible subject as opposed to the usual rubbish I post.
I was especially surprised at £650 asked for an oil change.
However to be fair when I see posts on the faff it is to remove and replace a battery it does put things into some sort of perspective.
I have made an early New Year resolution not to post anymore silly remarks as it pees off everybody.
As it happens I offer very good value, one has to nowadays....I see folks on their phones checking prices in my store.

So that makes it £804....still £100 cheaper than the MD who incidentally quoted the "book price" of £1100.

Check out AM Works fixed price servicing at www.amwfixedpriceservicing.com. When I looked for servicing on my 2007 DB9, AMW were more extensive and cheaper than most dealerships. Their facilities are excellent, too, which is not the case for some dealerships.

Thank you.....I have seen that but it's only for cars from November 2012
As it is one rarely gets away with just a service.....often its new pads or tyres etc and then its £2/3K.
I'm not moaning just commenting .....not even saying it's not par for the course....and it's worth it to keep the car in fine fettle and the pleasure one gets.

Yes they are having a laugh. But they do drag it out long enough to make it look like they are putting some sort of effort into this extremely complicated kit ca *cough* supercar.

Hmmmm indeed. Earlier this year I had a fixed price 7 year service at AMW for c. £800 before "additional items". I called today to ask if these fixed prices still apply, and was told the price I paid was a promotional price, and the 7 year service is now £1,073yikes inclusive of VAT, and they might do 10% off. So, I stand corrected! The nearest dealership I trust is Grange, who do it for £761 according to their website. I guess I'll be giving them a call next time....

Maybe we need to have a list of the best places to get a service at the best value?

Your comments are exactly why I posted this topic.
I believe that the going rate is circa £900 inc VAT for a MD or respected indie ( within the M25 ) and that includes Grange for cars older than Nov. 2012.

I think this quote rather gives the game away.
Perhaps someone on here who has changed their oil on their Aston can justify the quote.
So,if it does actually take 3 hours then at £150 per hour plus oil that's how it adds up.
It does sound OTT.
I know that some owners provide the oil to cut costs, how much would that save ?
Anyway can't see a MD being up for that.

So that's £535 ,very good price ,is that with an MD or indie...how can you get it at that price?
How much do you save on the oil then ?
Unfortunately it's to far away from me,assuming it's around where you live.
