Anyone knows why some cars have a green background on the badge and others a black one.
(Background behind the Aston Martin script on the bonnet wing badge).

Black on every V12 engined AM or just the more powerful ones like V12 Vantage, V12 Vantage S, DBS, Vanquish.
I think DB9 and V8 Vantage have the green one. We need Grant's view!

On my V12VSR, they're black. I've got a paperweight on my desk with a green badge.

The way it used to be was as follows:-

Green - Standard performance (Std V8V and DB9's)
Black - Top-tune vehicles (DBS, V12V)
Red - Specials (One-77, V12 Zagato)

Of course, this may have been loosened in terms of policy but hey....

If you would like some ‘train spotting' about this topic, here we go.

Not only is our car maker a Royal Warrant Appointment holder, by Appointment to HRH The Prince of Wales, but so is the badge maker, by Appointment to HM The Queen. Manufacturer of badges, insignia and medals.
The Company is Thomas Fattorini Ltd., founded in 1827, based in Birmingham.
