Hi

Reading MaverickV12's post in Took Sat Nav apart..., about repairing the satnav module, I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of the Convertible Roof Module (CRM) being repaired?

Don't remember seeing anyone do more than just replace one

From experience, it's not the module that is the expensive part. It's the fact half the car has to be dismantled to get to it ... I exaggerate of course, but it's not far off the truth.

IIRC My replacement module cost about £400 plus 1 hour labour charge. Took the old one apart but could not work out what part of it failed, looked as good as new. It's just a load of circuit boards so I guess one shorts out due to heat soak over time. (Made in Germany)

The convertible roof module is circa £416 + VAT and is located in the rear wheel arch behind the driver (RHD car).
The module is made by Webasto (a German company) and once it is fitted requires to be coded to the car.
Total cost including VAT is circa £750

The strange thing in my case is that the roof still operated, but the faulty roof module threw up all sorts of other dashboard warning lights
