Hi all,
I will hopefully be buying my first AM DB9 and would like some pointers regarding potentially leaving it outside on my driveway.
My garage is just big enough for the DB9 but I'm not sure I could open the doors and get out...a minor inconvenience obviously.
My main aim would be to use the garage but it would mean one hell of a clear out and a headache as to where to store some white goods :-(
Anyway, I was wondering what other owners views are on the subject and if there are any major issues with leaving it outside.
Many thanks,
Geoff.

A highly 'scientific' survey has proved that cars not left in garages have a higher incidence of water in the rear lights and fogging up of front headlights, leading to a higher incidence of costly replacements.

I may have made the science bit up. And the survey wink

It was interesting at the McGurk meetup that every single modern Aston there had misting in the front headlights - not sure who I was chatting to but we said we should go round and take a photo of every one and post it on here tongue out

Between them my two Vantages have lived on the drive for over 2 years. Neither of them have had water in the rear lights and both got intermittent misting up of the front lights (with no electrical/LED failures) which varied depending on ambient temperature and humidity. I can confirm that these cars are waterproof (until you open the rear hatch) biggrin

Mine lives on the drive, no issues to date (18 months). Headlights mist up a bit, it is normal on most cars today.

I'm sure I recall reading in the manual that misting of the headlights is normal. Whether it contributes to the LED failure is another story of course.

I have no garage, mine lives under a car port, we have a milder climate in the South of France of course! Headlights mist up a bit too, mostly after having washed the car. Buy the AML Teflon coated Ultimate Car Cover if you're worried.

Mine is in my garage under an indoor tailored car cover(I like to pamper it lol), garage is alarmed, has CCTV on it(which I can see remotely) and my house has electric gates, keys are locked away too - paranoid? Yes, I don't want it stolen or somebody to key it/steal the alloys/steal the bonnet badge etc.

Mine lived on the drive for 18 months with no reliability problems at all - inc misty headlights ;-)

I'd recommend getting some paintwork protection (ask Paddy/Francis), keeps the shine better and it's nice to see the rain water beading, it also made me feel better about leaving it outside!

Mine had GTechniq something or other, quite pricey but lasted for ages.

Thanks for all the replies guys (even the sarcastic ones!!), my ultimate goal is to get it in the garage but it may take some some time.
You have put my mind at rest if I leave it on my drive but i also take simonr100's points on board also.
@JaseB, what are the profile names of Paddy and Francis?
Cheers

Ah yes for sure get the GTechniq Crystal Serum applied - mine still never washed smile

Search as Nick suggests below or just put an ad up for 'free massive pork pie' and Paddy/Francis will magically appear (some say he might make a video one day but most have stopped believing).

Cars belong in garages. Garages are meant to contain cars. End of.

Man after my own heart,,,,ditto x 4, minus the indoor tailored cover (I have an auto dehumidifier). In addition, the tracker service links to a mobile phone, not an alarm fob thingy (which are a pain as the un-rechargable batteries soon expire).
