I just noticed this in the Vantage V12S Owners guide.

You reproduced the page, but made no comment. Presumably like me when I read the book, you were surprised how much information is involved.
I recently bought an OBD2 wireless transmitter. Have not used it yet, but that enables us to see the data referred to in the book.
I would expect the scenario described in the book would only be enacted, after a driver had caused death and carnage. Note to self, watch those speed limits and throttle openings.

Your OBD tester will not look at anything on that list. You will only be able to look at engine fault codes and some parameters....I recently bought an OBD2 wireless transmitter. Have not used it yet, but that enables us to see the data referred to in the book.

I just thought it all a bit "1984" I recently bought an OBD2 wireless transmitter. Have not used it yet, but that enables us to see the data referred to in the book.

on a very slightly different note - does anybody have a soft copy of the said manual. I always seem remember something to look up at 11pm when I am tucked up in bed and really not inclined to get out and go to the garage to retrieve the manual. By morning I have inevitably forgotten ... until 11pm 2 days later. aaarrrggg!
We've covered this sort of thing before.
It's not evidence that is admissible - there's no secure chain of custody and the data can be manipulated easily. Generally the amount of data stored is minimal - a quick look at the workshop manuals should reveal the data storage capacity but I bet it's tiny.
Compare that to the Porsche system that tracks over-revs and is very well engineered, so you cannot claim a new engine if you over-revved the engine from 6th to 2nd and grenaded it!
