I have noticed that people here aren't afraid to offer an opinion, so here goes..
I am the very happy owner of an MY09 DB9, lovely car, mechanically perfect, no paint bubbles, no issues whatsoever .. BUT I have an opportunity to trade up to an MY11 DBS. I have Grant's book (2 copies now) so have read about the differences but would be really interested in hearing from other DBS owners, particularly if anyone has gone from a DB9 to a DBS. I have to admit even with my ability to rationalise almost anything with man-maths I am struggling. Should I ...?

I have a DBS, SWMBO has a DB9V. Night and day difference in every respect although our '9 is 2007 so I think you may have a few more horses.
If you enjoy just bumbling around the '9 is a brilliant car and I would never fault it. If however you like to push on just a little more the 'S is so much more capable. Then there is the noise and looks. Looks of course are down to personal taste.
Add into the mix 'S values seem to be rock solid at the moment I really don't understand what you are waiting for
Have you driven one?

Is the DBS a manual? If so, it might help your maths knowing they shouldn't drop in value and may be a safer place for your money than the stock market...I have to admit even with my ability to rationalise almost anything with man-maths I am struggling. Should I ...?
applying the Mr Maximus rule of responding to all who took the time to help
Yes the 09 cars do have more horses than the 05-07, which is one of the reasons I was asking those who knew. I suspect if I was going from an earlier DB9 there would be no question.
I do agree with resale value, although I did think my DB9 was a keeper until last week..
Drive scheduled for later in the week!
For leisurely cruise with SWMBO and children .... (= no sharp cornering)

Have you considered a Virage? Not quite as hard-core as a DBS, but with 490bhp and switchable suspension, it's not far off. The interior is more upmarket also. But if you want a manual then it's a no-go.
Good question, no I hadn't. The DBS kind of found me as I wasn't actually looking. I can't remember ever seeing a Virage on the market. I don't know how many of the 1000 or so that were produced made it down here.t0s said:

No, its an auto, and (gasp..) a Volante. I will be in trouble if I use resale in the man maths equation again for the DBS when I have to sell my DB9 and the man maths I used last time is proven to be flawed..DB9VolanteDriver said:
Have both: 07 DB9V and 09 6-speed DBS coupe.
For leisurely cruise with the SWWMBO ---> DB9 with the top down
For leisurely cruise by myself ---> DBS
'Leisurely cruise' defined differently in the above two scenarios.
This one made me smile. I have the same issue, with the addition of For leisurely cruise with the SWWMBO ---> DB9 with the top down
For leisurely cruise by myself ---> DBS
'Leisurely cruise' defined differently in the above two scenarios.

Its a bond car, case closed
If I had the money I would not pass GO I would go directly to my nearest dealer
Yes, well we haven't talked money yet. This may all unravel.

I guess its very much like comparing a Ferrari 430 or 430 Scuderia - same great base car but a different experience to drive and emotionally the Scud raises the bar as does the DBS imho
for what it's worth I personally think DBS Will in time be viewed as a proper 'halo' / 'moment' car with it's Bond association particularly manuals of which there were only 1184 coupes.
