Supercar Megabuild
Discussion
There is a new series of Supercar Megabuild starting on National Geographic TV tomorrow night at 8.00pmI am told it features the supercharging conversion of a V8 Vantage undertaken by GMR.
I know this was the subject of much debate on here a couple of years ago so may be of interest.
Edited as I quoted wrong time.

So, fellow V8V (and V12V) owners, when are we all getting our water-cooled superchargers fitted ?
Not jolly likely.
Even with a (lowly) 4·7, I have to exercise far too much willpower, in trying to avoid an appearance in front of the judge.
420 bhp is about right for me.

From their website
"The carbon ceramic brakes are provided by Surface Transforms (GMR is the only distributor of their brake systems for Aston Martin in the UK)."
Has anyone here used them for servicing, now that Grange have gone and they're just down the road?

Any idea how much they are and are they a direct replacement and road legal do you know?
Seems to me they must have spent more upgrading the car than they paid for it in the first place!!
I hated that "Spoiler" on the rear and the stripes
They also left the interior stock?
Intresting prog. but not impressed with Mr Khan

Behind the scenes the way the TV program came about in conception / who the program was going to feature was very different than how the final story was aired - but that's reality TV for you I guess. I remember well the email correspondence and the wasted morning with the 2 'mechanics' which terminated when i wouldn't donate to the cause about £20k's worth of upgrade kit - but i guess someone else did do. What we couldn't work out on the race day at Snetterton from the results here;
http://www.tsl-timing.com/file/?f=AMOC/2015/152954...
Is that whilst our car was approx 420/430 BHP piloted by a driver with a novice cross, we bagged a 3rd podium position (the car reported as 1st place was an invitation car that didnt comply with regs) our fastest lap time was 2m.04seconds, the pressurecharged car pinned at 600 BHP with ex forumla 1 driver came in 7th with fastest lap time of 2m.09 seconds.
Snetterton was the first outing for the GMR car, so give them the chance to get the car in fine fettle for the following race at Silverstone. At silverstone the GMR car eventually logged a DNF, but again with the ex pro driver the car logged a 1.04second fastest lap whereas the winning standard 4.7L car with supposed >100BHP less and a relative newcomer driver came home at 1.03 - i cant figure that all out.
We use Snetterton as a good reference and back in the day when GT4 was a premium formula, going from a 4.3L to 4.7L (around 2008 / 2009 season when this change took place) quickened up lap times by about 3-4 seconds just for engine. Its interesting that around the track the car was run last night a similar delta in lap time reduction was reported, but whilst GT4 cars went from about 420BHP to 455BHP to get the 3-4 seconds, the GMR car has gone 380 to 600 - more stuff i cant figure out
I also see the dashboard lights worked well on the car in the film last night.
Please feel free to join in the debate GMR
