Just heard Aston have done a deal with Red Bull. Sounds like excellent news to me.

I just read a bit about it here:

Does sound very interesting.

Looking forward to seeing the new red bull/aston Martin road car (am-rb 001?). Albeit if the telegraph is right in saying it will cost £2.5m it might be a little out of my price range....

That confirms the rumours from several months ago then. Aston Martin to be "Innovation Partner" and get their logos on the F1 cars.

To me it's a nice way for AML to get into F1 without needing to spend a load of money on establishing their own team, which would probably be at the back of the grid.

Nice to here some positive comments in here. Not the usual RB bashing in the F1 section.

I'm looking forward to seeing it in the flesh as I reckon its going to be an absolute stunner.

I believe it to be some very much needed clever marketing which let's be honest is not before time. Aston Martin sell a dream which has become a little tarnished as of late. They need to attract a whole new range of customers, hopefully this F1 thing plus this new amazing hypercar will put the marque back on the map of desirability.

Agree completely and it's not a criticism. RB's target demographic is very different from the current AM target demographic so why not team up with a younger, also "cool" brand and open up that marketplace. Good on them I say, great move.

Will be nice to see what Newey (and Matt Becker too) bring to Aston Martin - could be a powerful combination with the leading aerodynamist and suspension guys having an input

It would be great if you could expand on this.

In what way is the AM image tarnished?

In what way is the alliance of 2 companies with different target demographics a good thing? smile

Not tarnished but maybe has a certain stereotype of relatively older buyers. No I don't agree with it but that's the stereotype that's out there.

Bigger marketplace!

Could this be a way for Red Bull to try and get a link to AMG for the F1 engines?

Innovation Partner.

Sounds fancy, but what does it really mean?
How will AM set about introducing innovations that decrease lap times?

Would you sell your engine to a competitor, who has a reputation for having a really well performing 'chassis'?

Personally no.

I can see arguments both for and against it though.

Personally I think it's just the rules of F1 that need to change.

Maybe they will innovate by expanding the range so we'll have a Redbull 4x4 F1 car, a Redbull 4 seater family F1 car, a Redbull small city hatchback F1 car etc...
