Am pretty furious at the moment.

Went to the Goodwood Members Meet today. The event was good fun. Unfortunately, it was the parking situation that caused much drama.

It is one of those events where you part in a field. The main thoroughfare through these fields are covered with metal sheets to protect the grass. As w drove off the road into the field, there was a small metal ramp onto the metal sheeting. It looked tight but I was sure I could be OK as I could see many other low cars already parked in the field (Porsche, Fezza's and Lambo's). Anyway, I got the front end up and over the ramp without an issue but it was the side skirts that got totally trashed just in front of the rear wheels as the back end went up. grrrr. took me 2 hours to calm down. Am still pretty mad. I daren't look under the car.

If any of you are going there tomorrow - be really careful. I managed to find another way out where the buses come to shuttle people from the camp-site to the event. Shame nobody mentioned this before the event.

This happened with my 997gt3, my only new Porsche ordered to my spec. Was suppose to be a keeper. Went to a car show with field parking. Ran over a rock hidden in grass which gouged the sill. Couldn't keep it after that hence my now keeper v12v..... Better car anyway!

But the point is, why do so many people (me included) take low standing sports cars "off-road" when they're clearly not fit for that purpose. I will only ever go/park at a car show where my car doesn't go off road!

Scraped the front under side of mine at the festival of speed last year getting back on the metal road. Went to the members meeting yesterday in my fathers Volvo XC70 and that caught the ground on the way out possibly just the mud flap but did wonder how the lower cars would manage. You would have thought there was a better solution.
