That's a impressive jump in power.

Great graph! I'm surprised that stock drops off power so early - has always felt like it pulls hard to the red line which is at around 7000rpm I think (its not actually marked).

I stuck a set of Quicksilver straight through pipes on my DBS and it has transformed the car beyond belief, well the P-Zero Corsas were a great help too

That looks like the throttle was feathered to lose power so suddenly at 5750rpm on the first run.

At worst case, the power would have levelled out, not dropped off so badly.

The power drops off so quickly because the peak power on a 450bhp DB9 is @ 5750rpm due to the long runner inlet manifolds. This can be verified by looking at the factory published power curve graphs where you will see the same drop off.

Part of the 'Blofeld' Spec was to fit short runner DBS inlet manifolds so the power now peaks at +6500rpm.

Anyone on long runner inlet manifolds (DB9/Rapide) will have peak power at 5750 rpm with the power dropping off rapidly after that.

If revving to 7k 'feels' like the engine is still producing peak power is probably because you are still in a low gear. If it is tried in 5th the engine will run out of power after 5750rpm.

The short runner inlets were fitted to 'Blofeld' to make use of all the additional breathing Mods. If it had been kept on the long runner inlet manifolds no matter what other Mods had been done the power would still have dropped off at 5750rpm.

Had my SL63 AMG on the rollers this week.

3 runs I'm happy with the result.

Thanks for the info David - I Googled it to learn more and Mike has an interesting post here about inlet tract length: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
