New (to me) DB9 Purchase
Discussion
Hi,
Long time lurker on PH but time has come to create an account and ask for advise. (english is not my first language so I do apologise for any mistakes I might make)
I dreamed about having an Aston since I was a kid and now I finally have the opportunity to own one of these (in my opinion) works of art. I decided to go for a DB9 post '09 facelift mainly because of the rear seats, I know they might be useless for adults but I do have 2 daughters aged 6 and 8 and would love to take them around with me while enjoying the car. I am indeed worried about spending this kind of money on a car that will be used rarely (I work from home and already have a family car driven by missus) but this will be a purchase made with the heart rather than the head, and also it looks like they don't depreciate THAT much to lose a fortune in few years time.
Now, the advise I was after, I found two cars :
https://used.astonmartin.com/en-GB/Search/Details~...
Pros: one year manufacturer warranty and probably great dealer support (bought our current car from Grange and they were great)
Cons: slightly high mileage?
Second car: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...
Pros: Lower mileage, great colour (like it better than black but black is not a deal breaker) , also a bit cheaper (again, not a deal breaker)
Cons: Virtually no warranty, don't know about dealer.
Any suggestions, tips , etc are more than welcome
P.S. Any chance any of you knows any of these two cars?
Cheers,
Paul

With just a quick look at both, I'd go for the £50K PH one and use the spare 3K to buy a 12 month warranty and a few bottles of bubbly to celebrate! Looks like its a slightly better spec too. Don't forget, photos are the order of the day once the deal is done!!! Best of luck.Long time lurker on PH but time has come to create an account and ask for advise. Hi
Main dealer car is a proper sports pack car with uprated suspension as opposed to the other one which only has the sport pack wheels.
Non dealer car also needs a service within a couple of months. Dealer car will probably be serviced prior to getting it.
Warranty is about £2000 from AM which is included in the price. Service plus warranty prob around £3000 which is the price difference. No other warranty comes close in terms of coverage and ease of claiming.
We had 2 shock absorbers done under warranty-Bill was over £2000/
I would personally go for the dealer car. Offer them 51K

Non Sports Pack? Sure? The link in the description says otherwise but I may be wrong.Main dealer car is a proper sports pack car with uprated suspension as opposed to the other one which only has the sport pack wheels.

Second car.. No doubt about it, in my opinion. I've got a black DB9 and I have to tell you that black is normally a pain in the rump but there's something extra difficult about the black on my Aston Martin. It seems to swirl up before my detailer puts down the buffer after its yearly polish/paint correction. When it's clean, it looks amazing of course but it has a magnetic force pulling dust on to the paint right after its been washed. )
I love the look of black but I'd never buy a black one again. I'm in the process of purchasing a DBS..thankfully, lightning silver.
Beautiful choices you have.. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the replies guys, really appreciate it
I got the flu and I was just lying in bed most of the day yesterday and today, hence the late reply from me.
It does look like the PH car has been sold so its only the main dealer one left. If I will feel better hopefully I'll go and test drive it tomorrow and have it bought
.
I agree with the black paint comment above (being high maintenance) but the car will sadly live on the street for the next few months to a year until we change house and move out of London, so I am not that worried about having it mirror finish everyday (even though I'd love that).
I will keep this thread updated once I got to see the main dealer car
Thanks,
Paul
