N400 USB/iphone connection

Morning all,
Finally picked up my new car (2008 N400 Roadster) and need some help with the ice please
1) The USB stick I tried this morning is showing unreadable - I remember reading some threads before I bought it and it was particular about certain sticks working/not working - does it also matter how the USB is formatted?
2) I have a HTC M9 which connects to the bluetooth fine but is there a way to get audio from it (Spotify) either using the USB or 30 pin connector?
