Secondary Decat Pipes on V12VS
Discussion
Anyone had the secondary decat pipes replaced by straight pipes on a V12 Vantage S? Would you recommend having it done? What about warranty, is there a risk having it invalidated? Perhaps better to have them dealer installed. Any fault messages? Did a search on here and alscar came up with a post about taking delivery of his lovely China Grey V12VS from Works with decat pipes replaced by straight QS pipes installed by Works.
I have Capristo cat delete pipes - IIRC they cost v approx c. £400 +/- 100. But of course you then have to pay to have them fitted
To be fair, if it's an Aston product with an all in price being fitted by an Aston dealer, whilst £1k is a touch more than you could get it done for by other means, it's not totally OTT either

I have them on mine (same pair that were previously on the V12V). They are certainly (even) louder on the S I guess due to the smaller rear box. Highly recommended as esp. without fuse22 it's quite a beast!
I checked my original main dealer receipt and it cost me £945 3 years ago, IIRC the parts they fitted carried a Quicksilver badge - I had them 'loose' handed back from the dealer and had my local trusted garage fit them for £75. No warranty issues.
Hope this helps - get 'em on!

Thanks for the info guys! I have fuse 15 permanently out, do you think it is too noisy, for instance like on a long distance trip, or is it OK in 7th gear on the motorway? Do you gain any bhp with these? Will probably have them fitted by my dealer when it goes in for a service in September.
Not wanting to be a spoilsport but there most definately are warranty issues.
One of my mates had QS straight pipes fitted to hos DBS by an AM dealer and unfortunately he had an engine failure due to primary cats being injested.
Outcome was a new engine in his 2 yr old 4k miles DBS at a cost of circa £30k.
AM said manufacturer warranty was void due to cat delete!
After much argument and negotiation AM reluctantly agreed to honour the warranty.
Engine replaced, car sold and a set of as new QS cat delete pipes for sale......still for sale i believe.
Ask the questions and get it in writing from the dealer (no dealer would put in writing for me) would be my advice.

I'll certainly get the warranty cover in writing.

We don't know as yet from the dealer, may never know, but you can read BamfordMike's thoughts here http://is.gd/BsQlrjMates car had a loss of power and was misfiring before smoking from one side of exhaust.
I am not technical but as i understand it, the explosion went into the cat and caused it to break up. The platinum dust is then sucked back into the engine where it can pass from bore to bore and in effect wears the liners away.
As i said, i am not technical so may have it wrong.
I was going to have different manifolds on mine so the cats were nowhere near the cylinder heads. I am told that if I do that my warranty will be void. At least it wouldnt suck the cats back in!!
I understand that its fairly rare for this to happen but nevertheless, it does occur.
