So, with all but a week or so of warranty left my beastie has decided to not start....sometimes (2009 V8VR)! Locks and unlocks fine, wing mirrors fold and battery tip top. Insert key in dash, no red light (just a white one in the receptacle) Tracker light flashes in the dash and sometimes I have a mileage display and sometimes I don't. No other signs of life at all.

Take it out, put it in, take it out, put it in, take it out put it in, and then for no reason at all it bursts into life and it's happy days?!

Wife was not impressed at having to sit in a car park for 45 mins while I repeated that operation until eventual success!! (Not sure that reads right but I'll leave it anyway!) angel

Main dealer is about to upgrade the tracker as they reckon there lies the route of the problem (I have no subscription for it by the way).

Anybody had the same issue? I obviously want to get this resolved before the warranty runs out!! Could it be the receptacle itself?

New batteries in both keys - no difference.

Cheers.

I'm no expert, but I believe the root of many weird and wonderful gremlins lies with the battery. Has it ever been replaced, and if not after 7 years then it might be worth a punt (could be a cheap fix).

Like I said, no expert at all, just what I've read on here.

I had a similar problem (pm me for details) but basically the tracker module failed and it went into immobilise mode

Thanks to those who replied, Aston recovery came over and a very nice chap decided it was the docking station that was at fault (and he was right). Instead of putting it on roller skates and man handling it across the gravel to a truck and off to my nearest Aston dealer, he elected to order the part (overnight before 9am!) and fit it himself. All done by 10:30am on a Saturday morning, burbling away again. Many thanks to Aidan - really excellent service all round, from the initial phone call, speed of response and swift rectification.
