Watching the Sothebys auctions at Monaco live on Youtube.
1991 Aston Martin Virage GT Lightweight (only one made) in the auction went for £63,000!
Seemed seriously cheap, any experts want to disagree?

It is a very odd car. It is what happens when nobody takes a step back and asks the question: "why the feck are we doing this?"
A "lightweight" Virage? The car is made out of iron girders. You're never going to lose enough weight to turn it into a racer. By stripping it out, you'll lose most of the charm of the original car - and leave an interior that looks like someone has cut up cereal boxes and covered them with mouse fur.
And then there's the engine. As I understand it (I might be wrong), the car originally went to Works after build and was converted to 6.3, suspension and brakes. Afterwards, these bits were robbed from the car, stuck in another Virage and the surplus parts from that one fitted to this one.
No historical significance - just someone's personal vision (not one that I'd want to own)
Wouldn't give it a garage space myself.

Its like trying to turn a cruising yacht into a racing yacht. You make it relatively lighter but it is still twice as heavy as a purpose build competitive yacht so the sum of the bits that you add will always be more than the value of the finished product. Pointless and a waste of money unless it is for personal use only and then everybody can decide for themselves but for a dealer trying to sell them on - well i didn't work did it ?
