Stratstones Cardiff told me last month that their dealership would cease. Now got an email announcing the new showroom etc at Bristol. Anyone have any experience of Dick Lovets? I' bought the car from Cardiff and always used them for servicing and warranted work with no issues.
It will be 3 years old this September so I could change to an independent, and this is more tempting as the extra distance to Bristol means I may as well go further afield. Thoughts?

That's a shame as I have just bought my vantage from Cheltenham but Cardiff would be my local-ish dealer.

Dick Lovett has a good reputation and a nice Ferrari / classic operation in Swindon. Not used them myself but a friend bought an F355 from them and got good service.

They should be good.

Bit shocked at this Martyn! Was torn between an indie and this one on my doorstep so I guess that makes the decision easier. Could be a nice run for us!

I haven't received the email. Are you saying that Stratstone are pulling out of Cardiff but Dick Lovett will replace them here?

Well that's crap. Stratstone has been very convenient. If I'd known this a month ago maybe I'd have gone for that 911 Turbo instead.

We still haven't seen any pics of your new S Gar'! But yes quite surprising - would love to know more as they were always quite busy and mentioned they shifted 14 new cars in a month when I was there last.

I stuck a mini post about it a while back. You must have missed it:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... (I'll take some proper photos when I can).

From what I've been told by Stratstone staff and others, it was one of the most successful dealerships in the world, let alone the UK. The service has always been great for me, so I'm surprised and annoyed by this news.

3 years ago when I collected my new car they were all jolly having won an award for selling the 2 nd largest number of Astons in the world! (For that quarter or month...can't remember which). The salesman I dealt with left shortly afterwards and recently the sales staff have seemed rather disinterested. Too busy writing things down to come and talk to you in the showroom etc. Never met the Dealer principal despite having bought 2 cars and visited many times.
The service guys have always been great though.

Similar experience, sales disinterested, service very helpful
Shame but used Dick Lovett on my Jeep several years ago and they were good.
Still BR for my regular servicing and upgrades and Lovett for the recall stuff for me

I had a very poor sales experience.

Was actually lied to about certain aspects of preparation on an approved used car.

Not a great loss as far as I am concerned:

Sad news. Both sales and service teams have been great from my experience. Bought 2 Of the 3 I've owned from here and always found their servicing dept better than my two other experiences elsewhere around the country.

I'm sure that they will still service my car as an independent, very much like they do the lotus cars now, when they used to be a lotus dealer...

Got an email from them - looks like they will continue to service AM at the same site which is good to know. Looks like they will diversify to service and sell used cars of all specialist marques. Do those with AM warranties have to use an AM approved dealer?
