Hi all,

I am in the never ending (but exciting!) process of finalizing my spec for a new manual V12SR.

The low line console seems the way to go avoid any issues with the dogleg shifter, but I lament the loss of the storage space, elbow support and cup holder.

Does anyone here are real world experience with either combos? Thanks!

Again this is all new from MY17 production which is now, so there are no cars delivered yet to the best of my knowledge with the new low line console. The GT8 will also be fitted with the low line console so reviews of customer deliveries of these are probably your best bet in the near term.

There is a video review of the V12VS Manual on youtube here which shows quite a few shots of the low line centre console, albeit that it is not mentioned specifically. As has been pointed out on the V12VS Manual thread the new low line console appears to be quite similar to the old centre console as fitted to early DB9 and 4.3 V8V models before the high line console was introduced, so finding one of these is probably a good idea if you are keen to see one now.

Again for what its worth I have opted to go with the Low Line console as it seems to make more sense in the manual, but like you I suspect I may miss the storage area. Less so the cup holders as I very rarely have a drink in the car anyway.

I spent some time at the dealer and was able to sit in 2 manual transmission cars, one with the current high line console and an 08 with the old low line console.

A couple of things:

The new high line console is not a complete show stopper for shifting but there's absolutely now way you can use the cup holders and shift.

The low line console is just more natural with a sticK.

Winner: low line.

I would agree. As an owner of an early car with a low line console and now a '12 V12V, I find even after months of ownership I still have my elbow hitting the higher console. And as you said, anything in the cup holders interferes with shifting anyway. So you'll only miss the storage. Does the new low line console offer any storage or cup holders aft - closer to the rear shelf?

Not any problem for me with shifting interference, but defo cannot use the cup holder while driving.

From what I understand the new rear console offers a bit of stowage a bit further back, with 2 USB port.

The '08 that I sat in made use of that space as a cup holder, don't know if the new version will do that.

Hard to know for sure but from the various journalist shots of the GT8 released last week it doesn't look like there are any cup-holder parts inside the bin area. confused
