Nice - I think Chris Harris rather liked it!

Anybody know how to download/extract a video off iPlayer? I wouldn't mind keeping a copy of that and it looks like its going to be deleted in 29days even using the BBC iPlayer download tool.
Not sure Adam, but CH will be doing a lot on TopGear.com so hopefully it'll be on YouTube soon?

Apart from Harris perpetuating the Clarkson-formed myth that the engines are "two mondeo V6s welded together…"
What utter claptrap - I thought better of him than that.
It's not a 'Clarkson-formed myth', I'm afraid. What utter claptrap - I thought better of him than that.
Vanquish at the Vanquish meet at Works Service said when they were asked. Infact they laughed heartily. Don't worry though another 75 odd Vanquish owners were there with me so we can continue to dispel that myth. Edited by James B on Monday 20th June 23:03
A very close friend of mine is a Dyno operator who ran the Vanquish engines many years ago. He told me that it was essentially two Ford V6 engines. I'm more inclined to believe an engineer I've known for 16 years. I don't think that the AM designers would want to upset their customers by admitting that their very expensive engines were from a pair of Mondeos. I'm sure everyone has their own opinion on the topic.
Chestnut = Old.
The 6.0 L V12 was sometimes erroneously referred to as b"essentially two 3.0 L V6 units bolted together". In reality, the engine is custom-built for Aston Martin by Cosworth Technology (both Aston Martin and Cosworth were owned by Ford) and while it uses some standard Duratec components, it is Cosworth's own design.

The engine was originally put in Ford's concept Indigo. Sure, the pistons, rings and valves came from the duratec parts bin, but the block, heads and everything else were built by Cosworth.
I'm sure Mike will have another angle, but the V12 was designed by Cosworth engineering for Aston Martin, it used two Visteon [Ford] 6 cylinder ECU's, that might have originated from a Mondeo. It is a one piece cast engine block, with two full length cylinder heads for each bank, so how on earth does Clarkson come up with that comment?
As regards Vulcan, its an evolution of the one-77 engine, which is an evolution of the Cosworth designed V12 fitted to DB7 Vantage onwards.

Maybe - or is it just that you cant see the gaffer tape and spot welds between cylinders 3 and 4 & cylinders 9 and 10?
In fact, please never let me hear this again - the con rods being from a Ford Ka 1.0 Ghia with eylashes I can live with!
On Top Gear I have no idea why they led with such a weak first show - this one was SO much better.
