To cut a long story short, while I was working on the car- shock horror I discovered that the rear wing or quarter panel has rust emerging from under the rubber seal.

I see that there is mention of rust on some other sections of the car, but there isn't much mention about this specific issue. As you can see from the images, it's not just bubbling paint.

Original factory paint, not parked in salty regions and no paint chips to aggregate the situation.

This has become visible veryyyy quickly and I'm concerned that it won't be covered u see corrosion warranty.

Chime in guys. What are your thoughts??

Thanks. Surely this would be covered under the corrosion warranty....right? The rust is visible by just slightly lifting the rubber seal. Pics don't capture how bad it actually is

If its on the steel panels and rust then I would think you are covered, get it down to a dealer to take a look.

Paint bubbles on the non steel panels is a bit more woolly. If youve bought from a dealer and its just occurred you may fair better than those of us where its come out 4 years out of warranty. At best I was offered a contribution by a dealer. My part of the "contribution" for 2 doors and bonnet to be sprayed at AM dealer would have paid for the whole car elsewhere

...never bothered to sort it out, still like it now on a 10 year old car. The next dealer I trade it in with can sort it out....

Every corrosion topic that I have read before, has been about paint bubbling on the alloy panels and components. Therefore not corrosion.

The rear quarter panels are made of steel, so your photo does at least show corrosion in the true sense of the word. However, if the AM warranty is anything like the Mercedes-Benz 30 year corrosion warranty, don't raise your hopes.

Sorry to go off on a slight tangent, do you know whether the door skins are made of the non-rusting alloy / alu / plastic materials you speak of?

I only ask as I have just purchased a reasonably young car which is demonstrating exactly the same issue on one of the doors and would like to ascertain whether it's paint bubbles or corrosion.

Many thanks

I once checked the panels of my Vantage using a magnet. Only the rear wing sections and if I remember correctly, the windscreen surround gripped the magnet, so those appear to be the only steel panels.

It is generally considered on this forum, that most paint bubbles which usually involve doors, door handles and mirror stalks, result from inadequate preparation before the car is painted.

This.

Traded mine in at 8.5yrs. Cost to remediate would have been higher than the knock on p/x value.

Has anyone had or known anyone who has successfully claimed for actual rust under the 10yr corrosion warranty?

Mines 3yrs old in December, drivers door painted due to corrosion, other door needs doing and also both wing mirror stalks. Will all be covered under warranty.
Proper Achilles heel with these cars

2 small Paint bubbles under extended warranty £1200 minus a £200 contribution from Aston! Bubbles are still there!
