Morning. I just wondered whether everyone here runs default tyre pressures on the road for their vantage? It seems obvious but when I picked up my car from Nick Mee the tyres were inflated to higher than standard. It could just have been because new tyres had just been fitted but i thought I'd check there wasn't a benefit to running them slightly higher than standard.

If you're running Michelin PSS then slightly higher pressures firm up the handling as they can feel a bit "wooly" after the stiffer walled Bridgestones for which the standard pressures were fine. I have the Michelins at 36 on the fronts and 39 on the rears with no obvious adverse tyre wear.

After having new tyres fitted, pressures tend to be higher as they increase them to help seat the beads. Of course, they should adjust this after a period of time or at least make you aware of this.

It could just be that there is a difference in the calibration of the gauge you used and that of the fitter.

Thanks for feedback. I'll check against another gauge. I'm running on Bridgestones I think.
