Trouble restarting after stalling
Discussion
We experienced an odd problem with our 07 V8 Vantage roadster at the weekend.
Whilst my wife was driving on Saturday she managed to stall the car twice due to not giving it enough beans when pulling away and both times she was unable to restart the car by depressing the clutch and pressing the start button. She had to remove and re insert the key in order to restart. I was the passenger at the time and she did everything that I would have done had I been driving. Surely after stalling it should be a case of depressing the clutch and pressing the start button to restart. Have we done anything stupid or wrong?
Your observations would be welcome.

Did you see a warning light about emissions systems appear momentarily before the engine shut down?Whilst my wife was driving on Saturday she managed to stall the car twice due to not giving it enough beans when pulling away and both times she was unable to restart the car by depressing the clutch and pressing the start button. I had this in my V8V once or twice - as the engine is entering a stall it seems to get into some kind of protective mode. Although it was a long time ago I remember it because I was at a huge roundabout blocking traffic and was subject to a mixture of hurled abuse and kind offers to bump start it...
I have this occasionally, which can usually be solved by removing the key, lifting the clutch and starting again from the begining.
Your car will have a conventional ignition key, but my description of the circumstances might be useful too you.
When I turn on the ignition by partially inserting the 'block of plastic' (officially misnamed 'Emotion Control Unit'), it is best for me to wait until the red light around the 'block of plastic' is illuminated. I then press further for engine start.
Sometimes, if pressing fully too soon, then as you describe, nothing happens.
I think the handbook states you can either press in two steps, or press fully in one go.
It is the latter that does not always work.
I think you have nothing to worry about, but maybe pausing with ignition on for the system checks, and then start, is probably the best way.
